2015 Offensive Line Rankings and Fantasy Football Impact: Green Bay Packers

Byron BylineOur 2015 offensive line rankings continue here with the NFC North. We always prefer our fantasy players be on teams with good offensive lines, even receivers – who must rely on the QB being given enough time to execute their routes. Fortunately for fans of the Black and Blue division – the offensive lines are good across the board. Out of necessity as you might expect; not too dissimilar from the Big 10 in college football.

*We credit Pro Football Focus, STATS and Football Outsiders for many of the numerical rankings for offensive linemen from 2014 outlined below

Green Bay Packers

The Packers were an exceptional pass-blocking unit in 2014, while they were a bit more average in the run-game. However, Green Bay’s offensive line was still respectable in that area. Fortunately, Eddie Lacy was a Top 5 RB after-contact in 2014. Lacy is a vicious and violent runner capable of paving his own way through a defense. After all, this is still an Aaron Rodgers led aerial attack, and the offensive line has been constructed accordingly.

David Bakhtiari, LT 6’04” 300 lb- A pleasant surprise in pass protection, his run blocking can improve
Josh Sitton, LG 6’03” 318 lb- A top 5 OG in 2014, best pass blocker on the team with positive run grades
Corey Linsley, C 6’03” 296 lb- A top 5 center in 2014, very well-rounded in the run game and protection
TJ Lang, RG 6’4″ 318 lb- The best overall lineman on the team in 2014, a top 3 OG in the NFL
Bryan Bulaga, RT 6’05” 314 lb- A great pass blocker and an average run blocker, still he graded as a Top 20 OT in 2014

Notes-

GM Ted Thompson strictly builds through the NFL Draft. The fact that the Packers did not select an offensive lineman in this year’s Draft tells us he is smitten with the cheap and young offensive line he has assembled in recent years. “Keeping his own” is always a priority for Thompson as the team re-signed RT Bryan Bulaga this offseason. The average age of this unit is under 26 years old. It will be a formidable group for years to come, which is especially important to remember in dynasty leagues. It’s an unbelievable interior Thompson has constructed with two Top 5 offensive guards, and a Top 5 center. Most defenses believe the best way to pressure an elite QB is up the gut, but it’s a tough thing to do against this A-rated offensive line. All systems are “Go” in Green Bay for 2015.
