Count us in on the Scot McCloughan personnel bandwagon. He’s got $9M in hand and massive relief on its way with RG3’s impending release, which should occur in the next month. Retaining Kirk Cousins is a top priority.

The long-term future of the DeSean Jackson/Pierre Garcon era has been in question since its inception. Washington began preparing for life after by selecting Jamison Crowder in last year’s draft. McCloughan can clear $8M by cutting Garcon in the final year of his contract, and clear another $7M by cutting Djax in what is essentially the last year of his. It’s not a bad duo, and both seem to have chemistry with Kirk Cousins – but something almost certainly has to give here. Doing new deals is in the realm of possibility, as is re-signing Garcon and letting Jackson play out the season.

We don’t know who the hell is going to offer Garcon big money – making him the more apparent candidate to work something out. The situation with Jackson could get more interesting. He’s still arguably (and you know Rosenhaus can argue) at the top of his game and has a big-time connection with Cousins. But, he continues to demonstrate durability issues and carries a knucklehead factor.

At $9M, CB Chris Culliver is essentially entering final year of his contract that turns into series of one year deals. DE Jason Hatcher could very well be gone next year. S, CB, WR, RB, are positions to watch in the draft. It will be interesting to see if the Redskins choose to re-sign their own when it comes to the defensive front seven. If not, they may be active in free agency and the draft at those positions.
