Friday Fantasy Football Fallout: NFL Links, News and Images

Peyton Manning calls the $8,200 he was fined for taunting Texans S DJ Swearinger after his concussion-inducing hit on Wes Welker “money well-spent.”

This chart by Football Outsiders recounts each of Cordarelle Patterson‘s receptions as a rookie and the routes he ran before catching the ball.

Former Redskins TE Chris Cooley says that Robert Griffin III has been “afraid to fail” this preseason, and does not expect to see the same RG3 during the regular season as fans have seen thus far in 2014 – which is a good thing for anyone who owns Griffin in fantasy leagues.

In case you missed it, Bills rookie WR Sammy Watkins was forced to leave yet another preseason game Thursday night with yet another injury to the ribs. His durability for an NFL season is beginning to seem like a small reason for concern at this time.

Raiders rookie QB Derek Carr needed a perfect performance to grab the reins as the starting quarterback in Oakland over Matt Schaub. And during preseason Week 4 – he came pretty damn close.

Wait … we thought Redskins rookie RB Lache Seastrunk couldn’t catch!

Browns DL Phil Taylor hooks up his boy Barkevious Mingo on a well-executed stunt play to wreck Bears backup QB David Fales during their preseason Week 4 exhibition.

Broncos rookie RB Kapri Bibbs tops off a nice TD run Thursday with a pretty funny little dance.

Jonathan Vilma lands some low blows about the Bucs offensive line in previous years, says new addition Logan Mankins will change the unit’s fortunes. (And hopefully those of Doug Martin owners in fantasy leagues.)

Jim Harbaugh gives basically the most Jim Harbaugh answer ever about whether backup QB Josh Johnson has done enough to warrant a spot on the 49ers 53-man roster.

Cool Cowboys at Chargers panorama image.

And finally, bet you never thought you’d see Phillip Rivers square up, get his head across the bow and deliver a big hit on a tackle, did you?

  1. We just had the draft in our league on Friday night. I had the 2nd pick in a 12 team full point ppr redraft league. Our starting lineup consists of 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 DEF, and 1 Kicker. We are forced to draft a total of 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 4WRs, 2 TEs, 2 DEFs, and 2 Kickers. My lineup minus the defenses and kickers is listed below.

    QBs Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger
RBs LeSean McCoy, Montee Ball, Rashard Jennings, Terrance West
WRs Antonio Brown, Cordarrelle Patterson, DeSean Jackson, Michael Floyd
    TEs Jordan Reed, Richard Rogers

I followed your cheat for the most part although I lost track of marking names off the sheet as our draft went quite quickly. I reached on Terrance West and missed Philip Rivers and RGIII. I think I am okay at QB. However do you think I need to drop Terrance West for a different running back available on the waiver wire? There are 4 running backs ranked higher than Terrance West available according to the cheat sheet. They are LeGarrette Blount, Jeremy Hill, Andre Williams, and Carlos Hyde. Any advice or thoughts on my roster would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you should drop West immediately, and grab Andre Williams as a study handcuff to Rashad Jennings. If you have other guys you can drop we would strongly consider Jeremy Hill, then Blount. Good luck

  3. 10 team PPR, I pick 7…Quarterback heavy league…First 3 picks are QB, I have the choice of the following…Rank them…Peterson, Forte, Graham & D. Thomas……Thanks!

    What do you think?
    Jay cutler
    Matt forte
    Rashd Jennings
    Demarius Thomas
    Keenan Allen
    Kyle Rudolph
    Roddy white for flex
    Tucker
    Rams d

    1. shamrawk-

Solid. Forter, Jennings, Thomas, Keenan should be PPR machines. Cutler / Rudolph two upside guys- if they hit you will be golden. Roddy a very nice flex option on a weekly basis. Good luck
