Garbage Grab: Week 13

Just in case you didn’t get enough turkey on Thursday, I thought I’d stuff your gullets with some more strange-looking birds. Hopefully these unappetizing morsels don’t leave you feeling ill on Monday.

Ryan Fitzpatrick QB, Tennessee Titans: Fitzpatrick has had a revival of sorts since coming to Tennessee, posting the best yards per attempt average of his career to this point. It doesn’t hurt that he has a reliable stable of receivers to depend on either. His foe this week, Indianapolis, has been playing like garbage as of recent, so I don’t see why he won’t keep the good times rolling.

Anthony Fasano TE, Kansas City Chiefs: Fasano has hit paydirt in his last two games, and one of those was against Denver. Look for him to make it a hat trick against them this week. I have a “hat trick” of my own, but it involves bathroom humor. Moving on…

Earl Bennett WR, Chicago Bears: Bennett is coming off of an eight-catch game, and that will instill faith from any QB. There are a lot of mouths to feed in Chicago, but the Bears are playing weak kneed Minnesota this week, so there will be plenty of targets to go round on Sunday.

Mike Tolbert RB, Carolina Panthers: The recent news that Deangelo Williams may sit against Tampa Bay almost solidifies Tolbert’s role this week. He’s a little banged up as well, but they really only need him on the goal line, and that’s where he makes his money anyway.

Fozzy Whittaker RB, Cleveland Browns: It was Whittaker, not Chris Ogbonnaya, who led the Browns backfield in touches last Sunday, and I like him to see even more action versus a Jaguars team that, although has been playing at a higher level, is still the dregs of the NFL. His ability to contribute in the running, passing, and return game increases his odds of going big for you.

John Carlson TE, Minnesota Vikings:  Carlson has scored almost 8 points in two of the last three games, so that’s a promising start already. Add in the fact that Chicago is one of the cushiest match-ups for tight ends, and he’s at least a TE2 on this week.

Jordan Todman RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: MJD can’t get all the carries, and Todman got 11 of them last week. Look for him to hover around that number against Cleveland on Sunday. I’ve had worse stop gaps.

Donnie Avery WR, Kansas City Chiefs: 91 yards and a TD will catch anyone’s attention, and that’s what Avery managed last week. The Chiefs will need to take some shots to stay in it with the Broncos, and Avery will be the recipient of many of them.

Nate Washington WR, Tennessee Titans: Nasty Nate hasn’t quite lived up to my lofty ideal this season, but that wouldn’t stop me from trotting him out there against the Colts. Defenses are starting to have to pay more attention to Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter, and that will leave Washington to rack up looks.
