Garbage Grab: Week 7

Garbage Grab: Week 7
Dorian “The Trashman” Colbert, Rosterwatch.com\

Don’t be a victim in this bye week massacre. We can help.

Baron Batch RB, Steelers: Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman are out this week, leaving Jonathan Dwyer, Chris Rainey, and Batch to lead the rushing attack against the Bengals. Dwyer is probably scooped up by now but is less than impressive, and Rainey is more of a situational threat, so I like Batch as a wild card to do some damage here.  In a week where running backs are scarce, you could do worse.

David Thomas TE, Saints: Jimmy Graham is not making the trip to Tampa Bay, so Thomas will draw the start as his direct backup. The tight end gets run on a Drew Brees’ offense regardless of his name, and Thomas is no slouch. Don’t be surprised when he has a great day in Tampa.

Josh Morgan WR, Redskins: Morgan has value this week due to Pierre Garcon sitting and Leonard Hankerson being ill. Santana Moss will be a strong play here as well, but he’s much more likely to be owned in your league.

Devin Hester WR, Bears: Set to start opposite Brandon marshall, Hester should get increased looks this week versus the Lions. Mike Tice has also been insistent that more packages will be drawn up for the speedster, so that..well that could mean nothing, but I like Hester’s chances in what should be an exciting matchup.

Brandon Myers TE, Raiders: Myers has quietly established himself as a reasonable fill in with his weekly six point outings. Against a hapless Jaguars team, he could actually increase those numbers.

LaGarrette Blount, RB Buccaneers: It’s a shame Blount isn’t owned in more leagues, but this fact is a boon for wise owners. Pick him up and play him against the worst run defense in the league. Doug Martin won’t get all the action.

Chris Givens and Brandon Gibson WR, Rams: Brandon Gibson is the best bet for more grabs and Givens is the better bet for bigger plays. Either should be serviceable against the Packers in what might have to be a shoot out.

Cecil Shorts WR, Jaguars: Shorts usually gets big action on minimal snaps. Let’s see how he fares in a start against a burnable Raiders defense.

Brandon Weeden QB, Browns: Don’t look now but Weeden might be the real deal. He seems to improve every week, and he has a juicy matchup with the Colts this weekend that should boost his stats. Trot him out this week if you’re feeling lucky.

  1. nice view points
it be be even nicer to see you commit to something more strongly than always saying things like “could, should might or if you feel lucky”.
just go for it! take a stand & you will see you are more right than wrong.keep up the good work.

    1. the trashman doesn’t take a stand for anything except free nachos. or free anything, really.
this garbage grab was nails, though, if you look at it. All but two went off.
