Garbage Grab: Wild Card Weekend

The regular season is over, but there is still plenty of action in daily and playoff leagues. Here are the best buy low bets to hit pay-dirt this weekend.

Khiry Robinson RB, New Orleans Saints: With news that Pierre Thomas won’t be playing this evening, Robinson gets a chance to build on his 12 carry 50 yard total from week 17. Fifty yards isn’t that impressive, but that fact that he tallied 12 carries to a combined 13 from the three other Saints backs lends to Robinson’s potential.

Brent Celek TE, Philadelphia Eagles: Zach Ertz is tight end everyone talks about in Philly, but Celek has led the team in receiving over that last two weeks. He’ll split time again this week, but in what should be a shoot-out with the Saints, Nick Foles will need all the healthy targets he can find.

Marvin Jones WR, Cincinnati Bengals: Jones has been inconsistent over the season, but his play has come on in the past several weeks. His success is entirely dependent on Andy Dalton’s ability to get him the ball though, so Jones is mainly a boom or bust candidate.

Benjarvis Green-Ellis RB, Cincinnati Bengals: The less enticing counterpart to Giovani Bernard, Green-Ellis is still the go to guy in crunch time for the Bengals. He has the playoff experience, and I fully expect him to get the carries when the going gets tough against the Chargers.

James Jones WR, Green Bay Packers: Jones is definitely not chopped liver by any means, but in comparison to Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, he is the least sexy play of the bunch. That being said, he’s probably the best bet of that lot to score a touchdown on any given day.

James Starks RB, Green Bay Packers: Even in a backup role to Eddie Lacy, Starks stacked up 88 yards on eleven carries last week against the Bears. Lacy will play this on Sunday, but he’s been nursing a sore ankle for some time now, so I expect Starks to get his fair share of totes this week.

Quinton Patton WR, San Francisco 49ers: Patton has been MIA for most of the season with injury after a promising start to his rookie campaign. Now settled into the third receiver role in San Fran, the 49ers should design some gadget plays to get the ball into his talented hands, including designed runs like the 26 yarder he had last Sunday. They will have to get creative to keep up with Green Bay’s offense.

Eddie Royal WR, San Diego CHargers: The receiver every fantasy player loves to hate, Royal usually only comes through when you don’t need him. Fortunately for Royal, Vincent Brown is slow and ineffective, and Ladarius Green has been used primarily for blocking recently. This leaves Royal to pick up the slack which will most likely include a touchdown agains the Bengals.
