Hillis joins Charles in Kansas City: Fantasy Implications

Hillis joins Charles in Kansas City: Fantasy Implications

Dorian “The Trashman” Colbert, RosterWatch.com

RB Peyton Hillis signed a one year contract with the Chiefs yesterday that reunites him with OC Brian Daboll, the same man who oversaw his breakout season in 2010 with Cleveland. The move places him as the direct backup to a rehabbing Jamaal Charles, but coming back from ACL injuries is no guarantee so there is a chance Hillis could be back in the saddle before all is said and done. Even with Charles running the show, I expect the Chiefs to use Hillis as a battering ram on short yardage and goal line situations. Think Willis McGahee when he was in Baltimore. This very well could end up being a situation where you can start both players every week. If you plan on drafting Charles in fantasy, Hillis is a must have handcuff. For my money, I’d pass on Charles and pick up Hillis as a third RB with great upside.
