PRO RosterWatch 2016 Week 1 Matchup Tool Now Available

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Texans WR Deandre Hopkins, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Houston Texans. You will see that the Texans are playing the Chicago Bears in Week 1 and there are four color-coded cells in the columns marked “vs. QBs,” “vs. RBs,” “vs. WRs” and “vs. TEs.” These are the BEARS’ ROSTERWATCH RANKS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS. They are not the rankings for the Texans, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE (the Bears).

So as mentioned, the Texans are playing the Bears, who have a big, blue ‘No. 1’ in their “vs. WRs” cell. This means it is the best matchup in fantasy for Texans wide receivers in Week 1. This is a great indicator for Hopkins owners, and for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

“1″ is the best matchup, “32″ is the worst.

LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2016 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question.

      There is only one matchup tool. We may be able to create a modified PPR version in the future. If you want to get real maniacal you could use completions against a defense as a supplement to this tool.

    You guys had Defensive Rankings last year, if I remember right. Will that be under the rankings tab once those are updated as week 1 rankings?

    I’m sure you will be providing the waiver wire priority as well, that was really helpful last year. I can wait and see for both questions as they’ll likely be up soon.

    Do I trust what the sheet is telling me about choosing between Landry and Baldwin? I feel like in a PPR Landry has the advantage in garbage time .

    I’m worried about the 2 handcuffs taking up bench space, should I ditch McKinnon and get someone else? Best waiver available RB (according to your overall rankings) is T West, then T Smith for WR. Thanks! (open to any other suggestions too, but excited to put this team to the test!)

      West has some value, but it’s hard to tell who is going to be the guy in Baltimore this early. Chances are that no one is going to rush to grab McKinnon if you drop him though.

      I like to use the matchup tool as a tiebreaker when i’m stuck. if you feel like edelman is generally a better play, I’d go with that. I think GB is a good play, as is Novak
