RosterWatch 2016 Week 6 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back. This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested, most popular tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Texans RB Lamar Miller, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Houston Texans. You will see that the Texans are playing the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6 and there are four color-coded cells in the columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Colts) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS. They are not the rankings for the Texans, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THE GIVEN WEEK (the Colts). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Texans, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Texans RBs face the best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 6. This is a great indicator for owners of Lamar Miller, or for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

COLOR-CODES
(you like blue matchups best)

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2016 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question.

  1. Who should I start for my flex?
    Christine Michael
    Jarvis Landry
    Marvin Jones
    Sammie Coates?

      1. Awesome, thanks Trashman!

  2. 12 team standard

In dire need of WR help and loaded at RB

Am I crazy to think of trading Demarco for AR15?

    1. Yes, you are. There has to be a better way

  3. Normally, I wouldn’t ask a start/sit question so early in the week. However, I own Philip Rivers in my league and would rather not start him tomorrow night. I don’t have a backup QB on my team. According to your QB rankings, my best options available are Marcus Mariota, Dak Prescott, Tyrod Taylor, and Brian Hoyer. Who would you choose? In addition, I usually stream defenses using the waiver wire cheat sheet. I already own the Rams defense. Would you grab either the Titans or Lions defense or roll with the Rams this week?

    1. Is Alex Smith available? I like him this week. Rankings get updated all the time.

      1. Grabbed Alex Smith off waivers. Thanks Alex!

  4. 12 Team Standard

Would you drop Travis Benjamin to pick up Chris Hogan? Have Brady.

    1. I’d like to see hogan do it for a few games before doing that

    2. Chris Hogan remains on the waiver wire in one shallow league where I own Benji so NO.

  5. Play Breshad Perriman over Tyrell Williams if Smith and/or Wallace out? Standard.

  6. This might be the website I frequent the most all day (after ESPN). Two questions:

    [1] Must start two (AP/Rawls/Woodhead injuries): Deandre Wash. | Kenneth Dixon | D. Booker | W. Smallwood
~My initial thoughts are DWash and DBooker, but which two should I start?

[2] Is Jacquizz Rodgers droppable for Breshad Perriman? (Given Dougie will be back after bye, and Ravens injury report)

    Thanks!!

    1. Question 2 [Corrected]: Is 1 of Dixon/Perkins/Smallwood worth dropping for Breshad Perriman?

    2. thank you for the support – I think you have it right on both accounts.

  7. Post By Silver Fang Big Wolf

Should I trade Tyrell Williams and Robert Woods for Doug Martin?

    1. I certainly would if I’m gaining Martin.

  8. Matt Jones or Mike Wallace as my flex this week? Thanks in advance.

    1. I say Wallace if he goes. Monihnweig gonna come in and air it out.

  9. Which 2 of 3 would you start PPR: Tevin Coleman, Gio Bernard, or Devonta Freeman?

    1. Tough spot but I’d start both Falcons.

  10. Hey guys, thanks for all your help, who do you think I should add? Looking for a good ROS potentially Wr2?
    Hogan
    DGB
    Thomas
    Williams (SD)
    Tate
    D Adams
    Meredith
    Enuwa

    1. They’re all great options, if I had the choice of all I would choose Tyrell or Michael Thomas, GL.

      1. Didn’t pick up Tyrell, so that leaves Michael Thomas, and GL? Sorry Alex but who’s GL? Was that a typo?

        1. GL means Good Luck

  11. Would you trade Maclin and Bortles for Rivers and Willie Snead?

    1. .5 PPR

  13. Trade question: my Jordan Reed + Mike Evans for his Gronk + Alshon Jeffery? It’s a significant downgrade from Evans to Alshon, but the concussion concerns with Reed have me worried. I’ve already lost Decker for the year and didn’t take a trade offer of Gore for Decker when his injury news was first released. Would this be a panic trade on my part?

    1. If you’re worried about Reed’s concussion, I think it’s a fine trade. I’d be worried myself.

  14. Hi Alex/Byron/Trash man.

A major trade question I’ve been offered Blount and J Thomas for Maclin and D Booker.

The other owner has CJ Anderson and I have J Reed.
I am strong at receiver with Hopkins, Marshall, and Cooper.
I also have Miller, Howard and Crowell as my top backs.

Should I pull the trigger here?

    1. No, let’s hold on to booker and see what happens. Also, we like Maclin this week.

  15. Considering a trade offer in a .5PPR.

I would be getting Brees and Cooper, giving up McCoy.

My QB is Cousins and Hoyer. My RBs are Gurley, McCoy, Doug Martin, Ryan Matthews and Kenny Dixon. My WRs are Cooks, Maclin, DJax, Cobb, Coates and Moncrief

    Do it?

    1. I don’t have a problem with the deal, seems fair enough.

  16. 10-team, standard league with a question about the next few weeks or ROS as I’m set for this week. I’m still rebuilding my WR position and got C Hogan off ww this week. Now wondering if Lockett, Royal, or Kerley have more potential. I have TE-Graham & Eifert so think Lockett is more speculative for a Baldwin/Graham injury and insane to predict Kap’s performance and choice of targets. Royal is appealing if Hoyer continues as QB. I’m probably overthinking this so any advice is appreciated.

    1. I think you’ve thought it out well. Hold and see what happens with Hogan this wk.

      1. Thanks for the sanity check, Alex. Will hold onto Hogan and watch.

  17. TE question –
I have Reed and Tye. Reed may not play this week. Both Hunter Henry and Ertz are available. However, I won’t know if I get Ertz until Saturday morning when waivers run for him. So do I:
    a. Pick up Henry (with a bad matchup) and play him tonight. I can also play Reed as a flex if he goes.
    b. Wait until Saturday. If I get Ertz, play him (and Reed if he’s a go). If I don’t get Ertz, play Tye.

For any pick-up, I’d have to drop Tye or Ware. I also have Eifert stashed for his return, but that’s questionable for this week as well.

Thanks for your thoughts on this!

    1. I’d wait to see about Ertz. LOVE Henry, but gotta think eventually he’s going to get hurt by gates and I’m doing my best to avoid much Chargers exposure tonight. An appealing pickup may also be CJ Uzomah if your waivers fail; I like his matchup if Eifert is still unavailable and if you look at the Big Tool, his snap counts are ticking up nicely.

      1. Great! Thanks. Uzomah is available so I’ll go that route if I don’t get Ertz.

  18. Guys I own Zeke, Gurley, Howard, Ware and White in a .5 PPR, offered Fuller for JStew. WR core rough after Evans; have Coates, TBen, Enunwa and Corey Coleman as my best. Do I pull the trigger?

    1. If you get Fuller stop what you’re doing and go hit accept.

  19. Post By Dumpster Fire

PPR, need to start 2 of D. Booker, T. Coleman, and Ryan Mathews. Any thoughts?

    1. Coleman and Mathews.

      1. Post By Dumpster Fire

        Awesome. Thanks.

  20. Okay. I give up Jordon Howard and Pryor

Get Back Greg Olson and Randall Cobb.

    PPR

At RB I still have C mike, McKinnon, McCoy and Powell

    Current TE is Henry Hunter

    12 Team League

  21. Need to start 3 of R Matthews, C Michael, J Charles, T Coleman. Who do I sit?

    1. I sit J Charles until I see him get his full complement of touches.

  22. Looks like Jonathan Stewart is back for a nice matchup against NO. With Cam not likely to run them in himself how high does Stewart go in the rankings. Would you change your drop of 15 spots? I picked him up on the cheap in all leagues and would love to hear your thoughts.

    1. There will certainly be adjustments w/ the news from tonight. Can’t say exactly(more rankings left to put into consensus still like trashman and the computer) but in mid-to-high end RB2 conversation if active I’m sure.

    2. Just updated our initial projections to show him as starting and active and he moved to No. 17 so more like mid-range RB2 play.

      1. Hmm I am still seeing Stewart in the 40s

  23. Bortles has been my QB, I picked up Hoyer to fill in last week. What should I do with Hoyer, does he have potential going forward? Keep him, move him or could Bortles be the odd man out?

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

We still like Bortles on the season. Close call this week. We’ve seen the Brian Hoyer movie before- goes big 3-4 times in a row then the time you play him he craps out. You have a good option at QB w/ BB and we wouldn’t play with fire for too long.

  24. Standard scoring. I have Julio as my WR1. Which other 2 would you start this week? Enunwa, Hurns, or Parker or should I drop 1 of those 3 to pick up Crowder since Reed may miss some time?

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

We always recommend our final positional rankings on Sunday AM and the Trashman’s PRO Flex rankings.

Def Enunwa. Could argue between Parker and Crowder. If it was us- we would play Crowder. But, again- please reference final rankings.

  25. I need to drop one I have an illegal lineup and need a kicker
    David Johnson , Doug Martin , T . Coleman , D Williams , T Reddick , T Rawls
    M Evans , J Matthews , C Beasley , J Crowder , J Kerley

    1. Prob Beasley unless you need him this week. Rawls can be dropped otherwise if necessary

  26. Post By clintron 5000

1pt ppr need a wr amd flex. landry, Hilton, a. rob, graham

    1. Check Trashmans FLex Ranings. For me now- it would be Arob or Hilton

  27. PPr would you start Dwayne Allen or Charles Clay this week? Uggh Tight end mediocrity!

    1. GARB! Prob DAllen- Clay cannot be trusted.

  28. 10 team standard league. I have 1 TE (Ertz) and could use another TE. Currently have 5 RB’s and 5 WR’s on roster. Was thinking of grabbing Barnidge, Pitta, or Witten (Hunter Henry is out there and thinking of getting him next week).

    Currently have:

WR: Julio, D Baldwin, M Thomas, M Crabtree, John Brown
RB: L Bell, Jordan Howard, Lat Murray, T Coleman, Doug Martin.

Considering dropping D Martin, J Brown, L Murray (in that order) for Barnidge or Pitta and then dropping Barnidge/Pitta for Henry next week.

Need help. Any suggestions. I’m 1-4 and need to start winning.

    Thanks!

    1. I would drop Brown or Murray before Martin. Martin is the workhorse in a thin Bucs backfield when he’s healthy. Murray is on the downswing, and Brown is kind of boom or bust. I would consider pairing crabtree and Brown for an elite WR, or trading coleman to the freeman owner.

  29. Dynasty league trade offer. I get Hopkins for gurley. He also has AJ green, Edelman, forte, Charles. I also have Lamar, demarco, matt jones, cooper demariyus. Would you take the original offer? Or counter with another?

    1. i can’t condone gurley for hopkins with osweieler under center. he’d have to offer green or hopkins and edelman.

      1. He didn’t take gurley for green. Thanks for the heads up on Hopkins though

  30. If Dwayne Washington actually suits up Sunday, is he still a better fantasy starter over Forsett?

    1. i’m staying away from the Detroit backfield for the time being. gun to head i’d say Washington.

  31. Flex question – standard scoring. T. Coleman or D. Parker?

    1. Parker has the upside against Pitt’s secondary.

  32. Hey guys, need one rb and one wr. Gio, ware, j. Richard, powell and Maclin, cooper, Michael thomas.
    Thank you.

    1. .5 ppr

      1. Only reason I’m not using the rankings is because I have players in the same game that could be combined accordingly.
Ware and cooper, Richard and Maclin, get some of the run game in that rain

  33. C.J. … Fiedorowicz or Uzomah?

    Reginald – The Boogie Bang

    Hey guys!

  34. trade offered to me: i give up AJ Green and I receive L Fitz + R Mathews; I have Cooper/J Matthews/TyWill and Crowell/Jenings/McKinnon/J Richard (and throwaways Starks/Payne). Trade or no trade?

    1. 10 team standard

    2. Hurts, but you need the rb help.

      1. smelly, but gotta do it! thanks, trashman!

  35. Standard scoring
Should I start freemen or Ryan matthews

  36. I have Blount Freeman, Coleman, and Forte. need to start 2 of the 4. 12 team IDP standard scoring. What do you think?

  37. Crowder or MThomas in flex if McCoy can’t go Sunday?
