RWi RosterWatch Matchup Tool – Week 7

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch.alex byline It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested, most popular tool, the instructions couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

Week 7 Matchup
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Browns TE Jordan Cameron, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First look at the Browns’ matchup for the week, and see what the number is inside the “vs. TEs” cell for the Browns’ OPPONENT.

(Cameron is a TE, and you would like to know his opponent’s rank vs. that position.)

As you will see, the Browns are playing the Jaguars, who have a big, blue ‘No. 1’ in their “vs. TEs” cell. This is a great indicator for Cameron owners.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start, sit or pick up off the waiver wire for matchup or daily-league spot-plays.

“1″ is the best matchup, “32″ is the worst.

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also weighted averages of separate individual player scouting grades for members of the 2014 unit that will be defending, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question in Week 6.

  1. Is this Cordarrelle Patterson’s break out week?!?!

    1. sure feels like he’s due, but we’re getting to the point where we’re going to have to see Norv use him before we keep getting him in lineups over other options that have become suitable.

  2. Hey guys, I’ve just got a couple quick questions. The first question is that with the Victor Cruz news, should I drop Roddy White, Eric Decker, Torrey Smith or Bishop Sankey to pick up Rueben Randle? I’m fairly deep at rb with McCoy, Forte, Oliver and Mathews, Ball, and Sankey, but not so much at wr with C. Johnson, Benjamin, White, Decker, Torrey Smith, and Josh Gordon. My second question is I have Matt Ryan as my qb, and he’s been pretty consistent so far. But he’s coming off a tough week, playing away from home and outdoors against a good ravens d. Do I stick with Ryan or bench him for Cousins, who has had some struggles lately too but put up solid fantasy numbers and has a good matchup this week?

    1. Stick with Ryan.

Drop Sankey if your that deep at RB

      1. We see cousins and Ryan as sort of a Toss-up but will recommend Ryan as ybelppa says. As for Randle, we could see dropping Decker for him now that Percy will be taking looks away. We don’t like Sankey, but it seems like he could be a factor for you come playoff time if his volume continues to increase and with Greene out, he’lll continue getting chances to prove himself.

  3. I just made a trade and now have one spot to fill. Who should I pick up from the waiver wire?

First my trade…I gave up McCoy, Cobb, Bush, Dalton in return for Cutler, Gio, and McKinnon. Who of these should i pick up on the waiver wire (1/2 PPR):

    Kyrie Robinson
    Anquan Boldin
    Jordan Matthews
    DMC
    Brian Quick
    Andre Holmes

And secondly, how would you rate my trade? I am 2-4 and couldn’t risk losing again this week or my playoff chances would be real poor. Because McCoy is on bye and Gio already had his, i figured this was a good deal. Plus my qb situation has been shaky all year. Now i have the Cutler/Alshon connection. I still have Benjamin, Welker, and Beckham at WR, so I was ok parting with Cobb who’s been largely TD dependent.

    1. Boldin

    2. pbatts – we think it’s an OK trade. The RW computer would call you crazy and say that Quick needs to be owned in all leagues.

  4. Hey guys. I have a flex question. Standard scoring. I have Julio, Alshon, Reuben Randle, Sammy, JHill. Right now I have Julio, Alshon and Randle starting with Sammy as my flex. Since Indy has been generous to RBs, and Cincy has established they can feed two RB mouths with their WR injuries, would you guys sit one of the 4 WRs and have JHill flex? Or since Cincy may be throwing a bunch to keep up with Luck and co., would you keep Sammy at the flex? Thanks guys.

    1. We like Sammy this week. I think you need to keep it like you have it.

I’m 4-2 in a PPR and playing the league leader this week. Need 1 RB, 1 WR, and a flex.
JBell, A. Williams, Crowell, A. Johnson, K Benjamin, Michael Floyd, K Allen.

    1. if kelvin goes we go Andre, Andre, Kelvin, Floyd
if he doesn’t Andre, Andre, Floyd, Keenan, GL.

  6. I have Foles on bye.
    Need one, please:

    Eli Manning @Big D
    Carson Palmer @Oakland
    Kirk Cousins vs. Tenn.

    Thank you.

    Mike

    1. Someone beat me to Carson Palmer last night.
For now, I’m going with Kirk Cousins, instead of Eli Manning.

      1. One reason is fantasy unrelated. Vegas has the Redskin team total higher than the Giant team total→more offense for the Redsins.

Also, your fantasy matchup tool likes the Redskin QB matchup better than the Giant matchup.

        1. We would have liked Palmer best, but like Cousins, too. Nice work MikeVegas GL.

  7. ESPN Standard League 2 RB 2 WR and a Flex. Who do I start?

WR- Cobb, Roddy White, Brandin Cooks, Odell Beckham, Greg Jennings, Malcolm Floyd
RB- Jon Stewart, Fred Jackson, and possibly Brandon Bolden (put in waiver claim) I have Ball and Rashad Jennings out at RB.

    Thanks

    1. Also Cobb is my only trading chip…Would you trade him for Andre William and TY Hilton or Forsett and Fitzgerald or Alfred Morris and Golden Tate if you had the chance? Any of those 3, even if I had to throw in Stewart or Jackson?

      1. I’d take morris and golden tate for Cobb

    2. Jstew FJax Cobb Roddy Cooks – you need that team to get well soon! GL

  8. Okay RW I need help deciding which two guys to drop Sunday morning for a Kicker and DEF!

    12 Team Standard:
    (1) QB: Palmer
    (2) RB: Lynch, A. Williams (Jennings, T-Rich, Crowell)
    (2) WR: Julio, Garcon (Patterson, Gordon, Evans, Holmes)
    (1) TE: J. Thomas
    (1) FLEX: Gronk
    DEF: n/a
    K: n/a

Also, this (1-5) team is offering me Foles, VJax, and Fitz for my Julio!? I tried offering Palmer, Garcon, T-Rich and Evans for just Wilson and VJax but he isn’t biting! Is it worth trading away Julio when my WRs are sort of weak already? Any counter offer ideas?
    His team:
    (1) QB: R. Wilson (Foles)
    (2) RB: Forte, Forsett
    (2) WR: E. Sanders, Michael Floyd (VJax, Cooks, D. Adams, Tyrns)
    (1) TE: T. Wright
    (1) FLEX: L. Fitzgerald

Thanks in advance for any help!

    1. we like Andre Holmes better than Garcon this week. Hate dropping any of those guys, but if we had to it would go Evans then (hurtfully) Patterson.

      1. Thanks for the reply Alex! Been stressing over those two drops so thanks for the input! One more question actually in my other 12 man standard league with this team if you don’t mind:
Here’s my lineup as of now:

        (1) QB: Rodgers
        (2) RB: Bradshaw, T-Rich, (Jennings, McKinnon, Crowell)
        (2) WR: K. Benjamin, Sanu (Harvin, Evans)
        (1) TE: Gronk (Graham [normally play one of them at FLEX])
        (1) FLEX: R. White

        1. I need to drop 1 for a Kicker, who gets cut?
        2. Is it actually viable to start both Colts’ backs at my RB1 & RB2 this week?
        3. Also I’m freaking out because I can’t pry away Andre Williams from the AJ Green owner with Sanu as bait because he’s stubborn and lost Harvin to the JETS!? Any advice? What should I do to try and upgrade my RB or WRs?

        1. I hate to lose him, but Crowell you could drop and have the best chance to pick him up again at some point. He’s only owned in about 20% of leagues. You could start both Bradshaw and T-Rich this week. I’d normally say McKinnon over Bradshaw, but Buffalo is the toughest team in the league to run on. I’d probably try and package T-Rich and Sanu for an upgrade at either position.

  9. Is it crazy to play Ben Tate and Brian Hoyer in a road game for Jacksonville? Could play Matt Ryan instead.

    1. I really like Hoyer this week, and Baltimore is playing great D. Not a bad idea.

  10. Pick 2- Charles, Ben Tate, Ellington, Lamar Miller
Rbs get 1 pt for 5 yards receiving in addition to standard everything else. Bonus points for long tds.
Matchup tool has Tate and Ellington in amazing matchups, but it’s so hard to bench Charles… He’s got a tough matchup though

    1. those are great choices. You should think about making some trades to capitalize on your depth. We’d have to go JC and AE, but HATE HATE benching Tate this week.

      1. It’s an 8 team league! And I started the year with Doug Martin, Mathews, Charles, and MJD. Picked up Tate, miller, and Ellington… Which is crazy! I am looking into trades as my QBs are somewhat weak, but Brady is looking good as of late! Thanks for the help! Believe it or not this team is 3-3… But I’m about to go on a big win streak, I feel it!

  11. What up guys, I drafted Brees in 2nd rd but contemplating whether to bench him this week for Carson Palmer. I’m I overthinking? Feel like Ruxin from The League. Forever unclean!!!

    1. It’s worth considering, but we’re not sure we’d have the stones to do it. Brees has been off to a bad start and the lions are just such a tough all-around defense. Seems like it has the makings of a Saints road stinker while Palmer plays his old team. The advice from the head is to stick with your stud, but the gut says you are likely making a shrewd move by considering this. We’re comfortable with either decision you make as an owner.

I was wondering, Should I start Reggie Bush (who has done nothing) or start Frank Gore? Thanks in advance.

  13. (1) QB: Cutler
    (2) RB: J. charles, B.tate,
    (2) WR: Cobb, Michael Floyd (D. Jackson, OBJ, Hopkins, welker)
    (1) TE: H. Miller (Ertz on bye also available harbor, gresham, and chandler )
    (1) FLEX: Andre Holmes

dont know who to start Holmes or D-Jax
