RosterWatch Matchup Tool (Week 8, 2016) Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back. This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested, most popular tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Vikings WR Stefon Diggs, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Minnesota Vikings. You will see that the Vikings opponent (OPP) is the Chicago Bears in Week 8 and there are four color-coded cells in the columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Bears) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS. They are not the rankings for the Vikings, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THE GIVEN WEEK (the Bears). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Vikings, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Vikings WRs face the best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 8. This is a great indicator for owners of Stefon Diggs, or for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

COLOR-CODES
(you like blue matchups best)

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2016 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question.

Need 3 players: 2 RB and WR/RB flex in a 10 team standard league

RB: Mike Gillislee, Devonte Booker, James White, LeSean McCoy,
    WR: Allen Robinson Stephon Diggs

Just heard the CJ Anderson has a knee problem.

    1. booker, white, a rob. i’d throw gill instead of white if mccoy sits for sure.

  3. Any chance you start Winston vs Oak over Newton vs AZ?

    1. well if there’s ever a week to do it, it’s this one.

  4. PPR 12 team

Trade away Cooper and Carr for

    Booker and Phillip Rivers.

Remaining receivers are Cobb, Edelman and K Benjamin.

Rb’s McCoy, C mike and some stashes such as K Davis, Powell and also have McKinon.

Rivers had a good playoff Schedule and I also have Winston.

    Thoughts ???

Thanks Guys for all you do

    1. i can’t condone it

  5. RW,

    14-Team Standard Scoring:

Would you drop Davante Adams or Cameron Meredith for…

    Quincy Enunwa or Jamison Crowder…

    Thanks!!

  6. Had someone offer me Antonio brown for freeman? Worth it with Coleman out?
    My team: (standard)

    WR: Marshall, Kelvin, cooks, baldwin

    1. yeeeessss…if you have a winning record. that’s a playoff move.

  7. Standard scoring would you start Phillip Rivers, or Alex Smith? Thanks

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

      Smith

    Thanks

ARob tonight- let’s figure the other two when Trashmans Flex Rankings come out.

  9. Drop one Knile Davis or Chris Thompson?
I just traded for Demarco yo!

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

make sure you have Henry. Depends- we view Knile more as an upside stash- Thompson more of a low end flex any given week in standard, and a reasonable flex any given week in PPR. More of a depth guy.

      1. Thanks. I own Henry too.
Who would you rather have ROS
        Jordy or Diggs??

  10. Couple questions I really need help with

    Winston or Carr?

Full pt PPR, Pick 2: Edelman, Enunwa, DJax, Ty Will

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

Like Winston right now, and for next few weeks- but you gotta roll Carr.

      Edelman + Enunwa

  11. Should I trade my package of Ware (or Ajayi) and Alshon for Mike Evans?

Current team (.5 PPR): RB’s- Freeman, Lamar, Ware, Ajayi WR’s- OBJ, Alshon, Michael Thomas, Diggs.

I’m a little thin at WR as you can see.

    1. We’d be willing to part w/ Ware and Alshon for Evans

  12. Am I crazy to even consider Mariota over Wilson this week???

    1. No, not crazy. Will prob be close. Please wait for our final positional rankings Sunday AM.

      1. Ya but Mariota plays tonight

  13. What’s up Rosterwatch Nation! Is it crazy to trade for LeSean Mccoy? Thanks for the sizzle.

    1. depends on what you’re offering. he’s in one of the most run heavy offenses in the league, so he’s gold when he’s healthy.

      1. Quiz show and Starving Marvin Jones non ppr

  14. 1pnt ppr can start 2… snead, j.j nelson, j hill, ty williams or moncrief if playing

  15. ZEKE VIRUS
    .5 ppr

I have Julio, Baldwin, Larry Fitz and Kelvin Benjamin. I’m starting Julio, DB and Fitz but my opponent has Cam. Love the matchups for DB and Fitz, however I am wondering if I would be crazy to swap out Dougie Fresh or Fitz for Benjamin to offset any of Cams potential td passes? If so, who do I sit?

    Thanks Deagsdan

I’ve been offered Marvin Jones for Jimmy Graham. I also have Delanie Walker. My current receivers are Dez, Maclin, Meredith, D. Adams, and C. Coleman. This is a Performance Touchdown scoring league, so only points for distance of touchdowns. Also, I can use both TE in the same lineup if needed. Is this trade good for me?

    1. I like it considering your other WRs.

      1. Post By Dumpster Fire

        Awesome! Thanks Trashman

  17. Standard-Need RB & flex. Crowell, Gillislee, Kelley, Meredith, Moncrief

    1. Crowell, Kelley
