RosterWatch Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet: Week 6

Byron BylineWinning fantasy football means being active on the weekly waiver wire. You have to be, as the season morphs before our very eyes from week to week in dramatic fashion. It’s nearly impossible to go coast to coast in any competitive league with the team you drafted. What this means is, every week you need to identify the unproductive garbage at the bottom of your roster – and exchange those players for the hottest new pickups of the week. Often times these free agent acquisitions end up being valuable commodities that can change the course of your season.

The RosterWatch Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet is a weekly tool that will help you easily navigate this process, with expert results guaranteed. Researching free agent pickups can be mind-numbing and time-consuming, so we’ve done all the work for you with this simple one-page document. Use it exactly like the Draft Cheat Sheet- start at the top and work your way to the bottom.

All players in the tool are less than 50% owned across all major fantasy sites. Many of them may even be had for free on Wednesday morning after waivers run. Please post any questions about the player rankings within this tool in the comments section below.

  1. .5 PPR. OBJ or Crabtree?

    1. Or Allen Robinson

    2. icepick16-

We like ODB. Crab is hobbled, plus PHI is monster matchup for NYG WR- and we have been the sickest about Odell since January- also scouted him live at LSU Pro Day- he’s an incredible talent. Good luck

  2. Got Jimmy on bye and was planning to use Donnell up until last week. Still saw he played 76% of snaps so i’m not quite sure what to do, play him or grab somebody like ASJ/Ebron off the wire.

Also I think I know the answer to this, but if I were picking up Williams/Oliver on waivers, would you drop crowell or MJD for him?

    Thanks

    1. grh1988-

Drop MJD. If Calvin doesn’t play we would consider Ebron here. Donnell could be at risk with the return of Odell- he only got 1 target last week. That said, going back and looking- ATL was a very tough matchup on the season for TEs, so the defense may have dictated this. It’s a better matchup this week, but neither guy has a monster matchup. Right now, without knowing more about Calvin- we say roll Donnell out one more time. Good luck.

  3. Better RB pick up…non-ppr:

    1. Fred Jackson
    2. A. Bradshaw
    3. B. Oliver
    4. A. Williams

Also, trade offer: Stafford and A. Brown for Rodgers and M. Bennett. Your thoughts? Thanks

    1. The Jackal-

Depends long term or short -term. If you need wins now (don’t we always need these?) – it’s Andre. If you are looking long-term it’s Bradshaw, then Jackson and that is very very close. We like the Indy offense better.

We would do the deal if we are the ones getting ABrown. Good luck

  4. Should I trade Cobb and sproles for megaton? That leaves me with Benjamin, d Jax, and Torrey smith at wr and I also have gronk and Kelce as my te. And Jennings and Fred Jackson at rb

    1. Elbenino-

Yes, we would do that. It’s a fair deal. We hope you own Andre Williams. We’d also go to the waiver wire and look for a decent WR you can’t start over Torrey. Good luck.

    2. p.s. We always like getting the premium player in these two for one’s- we take the gamble on Calvin. It’s the kind of move that can put you over the top when it’s time for a playoff run.

  5. I need a TE in a couple leagues where I have graham and kelce on bye. Both have Jordan Reed and Dwayne Allen available. Who do you guys prefer this week (one is ppr and one isn’t). Also knowshon is out there, who should I drop out of Lamar miller, Gerhart, DMC, mike Evans or hang tight? Full PPR

    1. nmarino028-

LOVE Dwayne Allen. We’d drop Gerhart for Knowshon. Good luck.

  6. Also I need to add tim wright, cool, clay or Heath miller for this week in a different standard league. Who do you guys like?

    1. Cook*.. Ebron is there too. I see the chest sheet, but can you rank who you like for this week please? Thanks guys!

    2. nmarino028-

We lean Miller here. Also suggest you look at the matchup tool we posted today- and identify which of those TEs have the best matchup for this week. That would play heavenly into our decision. Good luck!

      1. Okay thanks! Yes Iove the matchup tool! Use it every week!!

  7. Post By Nikkicurligirl

Leaning heavily towards sitting Stafford this week…instead I could roll out Eli M, Kirk Cousins or Austin D. League is a 1 pt PPR, -3 for interceptions, 6 pt TD. Which way would u go? Thanks!

    1. Nikkicurligirl-

If you are worried about Stafford (rightfully so- esp if Calvin is still out or limited which is where much of Stafford’s value comes from)- then we would roll out Eli and feel very good about it in a potential division shootout with PHI. Good luck.

  8. I’m 1-4 and need to do something. This is a one point PPR, 12 team league. The team on left is mine, right is best looking trade partner. In order to get Gio he wants Dez or Julio back, I’m thinking Williams for Benjamin, what suggestions would you have to offer.

    RBs:
    R. Jennings – M. Forte
    F. Gore – G. Bernard
    J. Hill – A. Williams (NYG)
    C. Hyde – M. Asiata
    J. McKinnon – L. Blount

    WRs:
    Dez – R. Cobb
    Julio – TY Hilton
    Kelvin B – E. Decker
    M. Floyd – R. Cooper
    (open) – G. Jennings

Can I honestly afford a Dez or Julio for Gio or Forte? What about Kelvin or Floyd for A. Williams?

Do you think Dez or Julio w/ Jennings or McKinnon for Gio w/ Cobb is fair?

Is his team too stacked where he won’t trade unless it’s big in his favor?

Is there anything you can suggest I attempt

    1. I’d try to trade Floyd for Williams and Decker. GL

      1. He bit on it actually. Thanks guys. Williams will be helpful.

        1. cwink2121-

Congratulations, this is a huge win for you. As nothing is guaranteed with Floyd right now, and wins are at a premium. Andre is a very nice addition to your squad.

  9. I really think I should pick up Brian quick. Should I drop Cruz or Crabtree to do this? I need help at wide receiver and I can’t trust either for consistent numbers

    1. jocrawfo-

This is very close. Quick should def be owned, and started in most leagues. Right now, we might lean towards dropping Crabtree over Cruz. All stats show it’s a very close call. Think we like the Eli passing game more right now.

  10. What Defense do you all like this week from:

Eagles, Lions, Bills, Colts, Packers, Panthers, Cowboys, Dolphins, Giants, Bears, Falcons, Bucs, Chiefs, Redskins, Jags, Rams, Jets, Browns, Vikings, or Raiders???

    I know that’s a lot, but that’s all available.

    1. cwink2121-

Please refer to the waiver cheat sheet. Eagles have been a tremendous play every week but one. Detroit is another very viable option against a shaky Vikings team. DET has been a solid play on the season.

  11. Non-PPR

    1. Would you drop Cam Newton for Tom Brady?
    2. Would you drop Michael Floyd for Gronk? (TE not required in our league) Thanks.

    1. The Jackal-

Yes, we would drop Floyd for Gronk in a heartbeat. The other question is tougher. With Cam’s mobility limited, we might like Brady more if you are looking to win right now. We’d recommend you go look at their upcoming match ups and bye weeks and factor all of that in. Only thing that worries us a tad is that Cam sucked the first half of last yr too, and came on really strong for playoff fantasy teams late. This year it’s possible his mobility may improve over the course of the season as well. Is there nobody else you can drop, and what other QBs are on your waiver wire?

  12. Non-PPR league,

I have to find a replacement for Brees, my choices are…

    Ryan Fitzpatrick
    Austin Davis
    Jake Locker
    Geno smith
    Mike Glennon
    Blake Bortles
Carson Palmer(I like this choice, if he’s playing, but just in case…)
    Kyle Orton
    Teddy Bridgewater

This is a one week fix…

    Thanks

    1. CWShive-

Please refer to the highest rated QBs on our WK6 Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet. I like Fitzpatrick for a bounce back at home on Thurs night in a game that will likely require some points. Good luck.

  13. Non-PPR

Would you drop Spiller and Asiata for A. Williams and Fred Jackson? Thanks.

    1. The Jackal-

We would def drop Spiller for Fjax- although there could be a case for owning both because if one of them goes down the other becomes an RB1 must start. Asiata for Williams is close- we like Andrew and own him in all of our leagues. He’s going to be valuable the next few weeks, and may still have a stand alone role even when Rashad returns. But, barring injury Asiata has been very solid and looks like a solid play long-term on the season. It’s his job. Good luck.

  14. Thanks for all the advice, guys.

What are your thoughts on Jordan Reed vs Niles Paul? Think it’s safe to drop Paul for Reed this week? I also have Jordan Cameron so I don’t want to carry both. And between the three guys, who would you start this week?

    1. Oh, and I’m in a standard scoring league.

  15. I got 2 WR spots to fill and 3 WR to choose from Eddie royal, Mohamad sanu, DeSean jackson
