RosterWatch Week 13 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2016 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Bears RB Jordan Howard, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Bears (Howards team). You will see that the Bears’ opponent (OPP) is the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Bears’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the Bears, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THE GIVEN WEEK (the 49ers). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Bears, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Bears RBs face the best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 13 in the 49ers. This is a great indicator for owners of Howard or for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

  1. Could you help me choose from the following for 1 RB spot and 1 flex spot?

Smallwood, Tyreek Hill, Kelvin Benjamin, Dixon, Hightower, Asiata

    1. Gotta keep rolling TFreek. RB we would go strictly on the matchup between Smallwood, Dixon, and Asiata

  2. I picked up Doug Martin off waivers several weeks ago. Who should I handcuff him with? Jacquizz Rogers or Charles Sims?

    1. Wouldn’t lose much sleep over it-

  3. Start one: diggs landry watkins
They basically even on the greatest
proprietary weekly tool in the universe.

    1. HAHA- gotta be Diggs pour moi. His swag factor is unprecedented

  4. I start 4 WR each week: OBJ, Landry, Crowder, Moncrief. Would you start a guy like M. Wilson (Chicago) or Inman (SD) if Williams is out over Landry? Now and moving through the playoffs.

I feel like there may always be a flavor of the week out there and the way Landry has played – would you hold on OBJ, Crowder and Moncrief and put in that big upside guy. I have Zeke and D. Murray at RB and Greg Olsen at TE with Big Ben to round out the line up – Prater and Seattle D.

Would you use that Landry spot to put in a wild card for upside or take his 8 points. PPR league.

    1. That is such a disgusting thought- this is really a question for the Garbage Man. Nice squad – by the way-

I think what you’re asking is whether you should drop Landry now and begin this process of swindling your remaining opponents with one complete dirtball in your lineup the rest of the way.

My advice- only if one of these scumbags you love has an amazing matchup and /or other set of circumstances that you can’t resist- go for it-. Or- if Landry has a horrible matchup.

Otherwise- just roll Landry as solid play at the bottom of a sick roster- never forget the Junkyard Dog is a good football player.

      1. I wouldn’t need to drop Landry but Yes, considering playing a trashman special for big upside during my playoff run.

But if I’m hearing you, you stick with the 8 points Landry gives and let the Zeke, Murray and OBJ win the match ups.

I’ve been bit a couple times having the 2nd highest points and losing, so I’m just trying to see what I need to do to put teams away… never fun losing 195-181… I’ll keep my eyes open to possible options weeks 14-16.

        Thanks.

Do not outsmart yourself and get cute- only if it feels very clear do I bench Landry for a disgusting Trashman Special

  5. Standard scoring – need 2 WR’s from Beasley, M. Wilson or T. Boyd.

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

      Boyd and Beasley

      1. Thanks.

  6. Who to start in the Flex PPR: Crowder, Mitchell or Boldin? Boldin is ranked low in your rankings, but he is getting the targets, and could be a nice play considering the Lions play NO this week. Crowder has a tough matchup with Ari, and Mitchell could be the red zone guy with Gronk out. Thoughts?

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

Mitchell and Crowder- we like Boldin but as a low risk low upside play. Cousins love Crowder- although we see your point against those nickel corners and safeties. We prob take our chances esp if Jordan Reed is a go- he will take a lot of that attention away- and I don’t expect the outside WR to be able to do much.

  7. PPR flex Tate, Snead, Lewis or Mitchell

I’m leaning Tate but NO def is improving . Snead is at home but Cooks is bound to get targets this week. Both Lewis and Mitchell should get more targets with Gronk out. I like Mitchell over Lewis because LA is poor against WR.

Still leaning Tate but Mitchell is tempting.

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

MItchell no question- Brady loves him in the redzone – esp with your neighbor Chris Hogan looking injured again

  8. Trade question PPR: I would be getting Evans for Tyrell Williams and Walker

    Rbs: Bell, Kelley, Henry
Wrs: Odell, Ty. Williams, Parker, Lee, Meredith, Coleman and Montgomery
    TE: Walker, Derby and Kendricks

    Thanks!

  9. Quick question guys, my first post here. In a pickle with Jordan Reed this week fighting for a first round bye. I have Cousins as well, and am struggling with acquiring either Vernon Davis or McDonald this week. Target volume for McDonald has been solid the past four weeks but the Skins love the TE. The matchup is horrid at AZ for Davis, need to make a tough decision. Thanks for the help, great site. I am new to it this year but will definitely re-up next year, I like the way you guys slice the matchups and focus on true player talent in your analysis.

    John

  10. Need 2 for PPR: Djax, Inman, Boyd, and Devante Parker.

  11. Would you flex Tim Hightower or Malcolm Mitchell:
    If Ingram is out?
    If Ingram is active?
