RosterWatch Week 15 Waiver Wire: RBs
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com

After a few weeks of complete depression in the free agent running back market, we get a sudden influx of strong prospects. We’d almost call it a wealth of supply- just in time for a monster Week 15.

All players listed below are less than 50% owned across standard leagues. Best of luck to you all this week.

tobygerhart

Toby Gerhart, RB Minnesota Vikings- 10% owned
We’ve been saying for a few weeks it was high time to put Adrian Peterson on ice. Of course, the Vikings had to let him sustain a foot sprain (one of the injuries we hate most for aging runners) in order to finally consider pulling the plug on AP’s 2013 campaign. At this point, we would have zero expectation of Peterson contributing to our fantasy teams at any point in the remainder of the fantasy playoffs. We wouldn’t drop him, we just wouldn’t have any intention of playing him moving forward. We suggest planning accordingly. Toby Gerhart- assuming his hamstring injury is minor- is now a must own for all teams left in the fantasy playoffs. We’ve always pegged his handcuff efficiency rating in the 65%-70% range. Which means, guaranteed RB2 production the rest of the way. Don’t even worry about matchups, Gerhart just hung a thirteen pointer on a Ravens defense that was supposed to be one of the very worst matchups in the league.

Daniel Thomas, RB Miami Dolphins- 12% owned
If Lamar Miller is out in Week 15- we like Daniel Thomas to follow his double digit Week 14 effort with 10+ more points at home against a great matchup in the New England Patriots. In this scenario, talented rookie backup Mike Gillislee may also still warrant consideration in very deep leagues or other ultra-desperate scenarios.

Jordan Todman, RB Jacksonville Jaguars- 2% owned
The man we like to call “Todd Blackmon” at my house on Sundays (if you watch JAX you understand). He’s been a four point guy lately. The touchdown in Week 14 made him a 10 point play. Primarily, just like Daniel Thomas above, we like Todman if MJD misses Week 15. Which, sounds very possible as he’ll be fighting through a hammy. The Bills are a tough matchup on the season that have been trending easier, while the Jaguars running game has been on the upswing in recent weeks (just like the rest of the team + we love Gus Bradley).

Marcel Reece, RB Oakland Raiders- 12% owned
Like the Trashman said, don’t be worried about Reece on the road against the Jets stout run defense. He’s the type of player, it never seems to matter. He just needs the touches. 22 points later, it was a chubby monster in Week 14. The matchup gets better at home against Kansas City this week. With starter, Rashad Jennings, on the verge of return- Reece may only warrant fringe consideration this week. If Jennings has a setback, we continue to love Reece. We suggest monitoring the news out of Oakland as the week progresses, specifically how the snaps may be divided in Week 15.

Knile Davis, RB Kansas City Chiefs- 2% owned
The talented rookie has looked good in recent weeks. He’s explosive. Things are starting to click, and the coaching staff is getting him more involved. Jamaal Charles has handled far more touches/game than ever before, this season. Don’t be surprised to see Santa Claus start to spell him a bit down the stretch in preparation for the playoffs. The Chiefs are nothing if they lose Charles. It would NOT shock us if Knile Davis ends up being flex-worthy on the road at Oakland. At the very least, it’s time for Jamaal Charles owners to make this acquisition.

Chris Ogbonnaya, RB Cleveland Browns- 22% owned
At this juncture, we are obviously very nervous to recommend him. But, Willis McGahee is concussed, old, and washed up- we do not expect him to play in Week 15. That leaves Ogbonnaya a monster opportunity at home against one of the best fantasy matchups we’ve ever seen in the 2013 Chicago Bears run defense. If you are even more desperate, and extremely bold, teammate Fozzy Whitaker is also worth a feeler.

Jacquizz Rodgers, RB Atlanta Falcons- 38% owned
He’s been pretty much a four point guarantee on the season. If there is ever a time to play him it’s in an amazing matchup at home against the Redskins. Who on the verge of implosion themselves, have nothing to play for. Nor, do the Falcons- which is why we wouldn’t be surprised to see more ‘Quizz in Week 15.

LaGarrette Blount, RB New England Patriots- 11% owned

You never know what to expect out of New England. So, don’t get your hopes up very high. Still, we think even in the presence of Stevan Ridley- Blount will get his slice of the action against a very nice Dolphins matchup. He also has a decent chance at vulturing a touchdown. Play him at your own risk.

Shonn Greene, RB Tennessee Titans- 12% owned
He produced a very touchdown dependent 22 point monster in a Week 14 time-share with Chris Johnson. The matchup is tough this week against Arizona, but at least it’s at home. Greene probably has the best chance of rushing touchdown in that game. We don’t love it, but if you’re desperate you could do much worse.
