Senior Bowl Spotlight: Kolby Listenbee, WR Texas Christian University

Kolby Listenbee, WR Texas Christian University

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 185 lbs

40 yard dash: 4.29 (unofficial)

NFL Comparison: Desean Jackson, Phillip Dorsett, Markus Wheaton

Scouting Notes: Listenbee comes into the Senior Bowl as resident burner, much like Phillip Dorsett last year. Rumored to run a 4.29 forty, Listenbee is on the shortlist to put up the fastest time at the NFL Combine this year. He’s been used as a one-trick pony of sorts during his time at TCU, running go routes almost exclusively, hence the Markus Wheaton comparison, but that can be somewhat expected when fellow phenom Josh Doctson is also on the field as a spiderman possession receiver-plus.

Listenbee finished his senior year with an impressive 19.9 YPC as TCU’s deep threat, but his volume was less than stellar, as he only had about 3 catches a game. He hasn’t shown much after contact, but most of his plays end in the endzone, and he has not trouble tracking and pulling down catches in heavy traffic. With his world-class speed as a track star in the Big 12 and uncanny ability to track the ball over his shoulder, I can’t help but liken Listenbee to DeSean Jackson. Listenbee is a tad taller, but the intangibles, the speed, the ability to position himself on the fly and the flash for the big play are all there.  Rest assured, we’ll be getting a much better look at Listenbee and his breakneck speed at this year’s Senior Bowl.
