Tashard Choice To The Bills – Grim Fred Jackson Vibes Abound

Tashard Choice To The Bills

RB Tashard Choice, after being waived by the Redskins today was immediately snatched off waivers by the recently-RB-strapped Bills.

Choice was originally claimed off waivers by the Washington Redskins earlier in the season after being waived by the Cowboys. He was largely ineffective for both teams, but had shown rare flashes of productivity during previous seasons in Dallas. He was never able to cement any sort of bellcow role as a Cowboy, though, which limited his fantasy relevance.

This move makes sense for the Bills who have lost recently lost star RB Fred Jackson to calf injury. Head Coach Chan Gailey said today:

“Fred’s not good, and I know he’ll miss this one. Then we’ll have to decide what happens from there.”

That is not good coach-speak for a fantasy owner to hear. To make matters worse, the rumor has begun floating around sources close to the organization that this calf “tweak” may turn out to be more serious than expected, possibly season-ending.

This is speculation, but speculation is what we do. If Fred Jackson misses extended time, C.J. Spiller is simply not a suitable replacement on his own from everything he’s shown at this level. He is not a back that Gailey has gotten involved in any sustainable role, and Gailey has even used him in weird spots like WR in the X and Z roles. Gailey coached Choice for 3 years at Georgia Tech, and presumably likes him. Obviously Choice will be familiar with remedial versions of the terminology, and will be in position to earn what could be a valuable fantasy role moving forward.

If you lost Jackson, snatch him up- even if you own Spiller.
