The Fantasy Fallout Heading Into Week 10

Trashman BylineWe’re past the halfway point in the fantasy season, and if your league is like most of mine are, it’s still anyone’s game as anything that can happen seems to happen every other week this year. So stay sharp and keep your eye on the wire cause it’s a long season friends. Here’s the fantasy fallout going into week 10 of the NFL Season.

rosterwatch-pro-testimonials

Dolphins vs Bills

  • For as much as my fellow RW crew hates Jay Ajayi, he looked pretty good on Sunday with a few dynamic runs and no setbacks. He’s worth a stash in deep leagues, and I think he should be handcuffed with Miller in most formats where you have the room. Miami plans on getting the most out of their RB, and it’s yet to be seen in Miller can handle a full load for a sustainable amount of time.

  • How did Ryan Tannehill manage to throw over 300 yds and not score a single TD on Sunday? He has become master of the mid ceiling/mid floor.

  • Buffalo runs the ball well enough that both McCoy and Williams can be started with reasonable expectations of return. Should Shady miss any time with his shoulder, Williams will be borderline RB1 material.

  • Kudos to those who stuck with Sammy Watkins all this time. With Percy Harvin gone for the year, Watkins should soak up targets as long he’s healthy.

  • I’m not sure the same could be said for Charles Clay. I’d keep him around, as it may have been Miami’s linebackers that kept him in check, or the fact that Taylor only threw the ball 12 times, but it’s disconcerting that he was used so sparingly with Harvin gone. Wait until Taylor gets in more than a baker’s dozen worth of throws before doing anything drastic.

Packers vs Panthers

  • Good grief, Eddie Lacy looks like he’s never played football before. I actually haven’t given up hope on him being productive this season, but it may not happen for a few more weeks. If you have that sort of cushion, keep him around. If not, ship him off. If you’re not a Lacy owner, and you have your playoff situation all but locked up, throw some offers out to his owner. You might be surprised what you can get him for.

  • Davante Adams led the Packers in receptions with 7. If he’s on your wire, you need to own him. I don’t think he’s a sell high either. The Packers need to generate more offense, and Adams is going to be involved.

  • Richard Rogers had a nice little bump, but I think it had more to do with Carolina’s smothering DBs on the Packers WRs, than it did with Rogers turning it on. He’s still a TE2.

  • Is there a QB doing more for his team than Cam Newton? He’s my MVP thus far. Yeah, Brady puts up big numbers, but a lot of them are padding. Carolina is beating good teams with an aging RB and old or inexperienced WRs.
  • Devin Funchess stepped out against the Packers, and there’s a chance he stays hot. He’s worth a speculative add if you have the space and need the WR help.

Rams vs Vikings

  • This was the first game in awhile that Gurley didn’t get you 100 yds…on the ground. He’s the Rams’ main weapon, and he’s going to open up things for the WRs. Unfortunately Nick Foles rarely if ever throws more 200 yds in a game, so that doesn’t leave much to go around.

  • Though targets are sparse, Wes Welker could be the kind of safety blanket that Foles could make PPR relevant. If you’re desperate, he might be worth preemptively adding..or not.

  • Yeah, Stefon Diggs only had 42 yds Sunday, but that led the Vikings in receiving. Hope and pray that Teddy is around to throw him the ball in their next game.

Redskins vs Patriots

  • The ‘Skins were dead in the water at Foxboro, but there’s no offense tonic like the Saints, who are up next. Do they pay Rob Ryan just to keep his luxurious coif luxurious? I’m afraid there isn’t much hope for Washington’s running game though, as running doesn’t factor much into game planning for New Orleans.

  • Good luck figuring out who’s going to get carries behind Blount in New England, now that Dion Lewis is yet the latest RB to go down with an ACL injury. James White may get first crack, but then it could just as well be any one of their potentially serviceable/useless backs.

  • Brandon LaFell shook the dust to lead the Patriots in receiving this week. I don’t think he’ll take the place of Edelman as Brady’s go to, but he’ll be the third option on most days, and that’s good enough.

Titans vs Saints

  • Marcus Mariota looked fantastic against the Saints, but then again everyone has recently. It’s encouraging that he had no setbacks from his ugly injury though.

  • It’s hard to take away something real concerning skill players in this matchup, when at least 10 non-QBs between the two teams would have gotten you at least 6 points(5.8 for Coleman) in standard leagues on Sunday.

  • The Titans leaned heavily on Antonio Andrews, and though he was slow and lacked explosiveness, he’s going to be the guy until someone usurps him — which may not happen this season if David Cobb can’t get back in shape.

Jaguars vs Jets

  • Blake Bortles is an every week starter. No need to question the matchup.

  • Don’t count on Fitzpatrick playing in the Jets’ next game. There’s a good chance he’ll have surgery on his left hand between now and then, and there’s no guarantee he’ll be healed up in time.

Raiders vs Steelers

  • Should Latavius Murray not pass concussion protocol in time for week 10, Marcel Reece stands the best chance of having fantasy relevance in the Oakland backfield. Roy Helu is no.2 on the depth chart, but he’s not even on the radar.

  • If only we could spread Antonio Brown’s week 9 fantasy points out over the time Big Ben is going to miss…

  • LeVeon who? Seriously though, DeAngelo Williams filled in more than admirably for Bell on Sunday. He’s a must start unless this foot swelling gets out of hand. Could be a Jordan Todman filled wekk 10.

Falcons vs 49ers

  • The Falcons are the worst 6-3 team in football. Matt Ryan continues to play below his capabilities and is on pace for just 21 TDs this season. I’d rather have Bortles or Carr in fantasy.

  • Shaughn Draughn was the lucky winner in 49er RB sweepstakes, even though Haskins started. Carlos Hyde is expected back after the bye, but should he not make it, expect a three headed kitty-cat of Draughn, Haskins, and Travaris Cadet.

  • Don’t buy into the Gabbert nonsense. He had a 185 yds and as many INTs as TDs.

  • The second team doctrine was in full effect as Quinton Patton was Gabbert’s favorite target on the day. If Boldin misses more time, he’s a sneaky gamble in the deepest of leagues.

Giants vs Buccaneers

  • I’m staying away from all Giants RBs outside of Vereen in PPRs.

  • Mike Evans dropped almost as many balls as he caught, but fortunately for him he’s Tampa’s only somewhat reliable receiver right now.

  • Charles Sims is worth starting against any team with a stout front 4.

Broncos vs Colts

  • The Colts literally took the Pep out of their step, and they were all the better for it. Indy simplified their offense with new OC Chudzinski, and that was the key to beating the previously undefeated Broncos. This new approach might lower Luck’s ceiling, but it should raise his floor.

  • Griff Whalen’s game seems somewhat of an aberration. With Denver’s shutdown corners tending to Johnson and Moncrief, that left some room elsewhere.

  • I don’t know if Manning was trying to make a point about the arrival of Vernon Davis, but his rapport with Owen Daniels was on full display Sunday. I have no idea which TE is going to be the guy next week though, and thus both are dart throws.

  • Just when we thought we were out of the quagmire that is the Denver running game, they pull us back in. Fortunately, both backs are viable on a weekly basis.

Eagles vs Cowboys

  • Jordan Matthews finally found some confidence and put together a productive game. Hopefully he can sustain his mojo, and hopefully he wasn’t on your bench.

  • Ryan Mathews needs 10+ carries every game. It’s the only way to keep him fantasy relevant enough to flex him comfortably.

  • Darren McFadden is on fire right now, but I get the feeling it’s only a matter of time before the wheels come off and he snaps something. I’m holding Christine Michael where I can.

  • Looks like we actually can get some run out of Dez before Romo is back. He’s a WR 2 for the time being.

  • Don’t get caught up in Beasley’s big night. He had a goose egg the week prior.

Bears vs Chargers

  • Jeremy Langford owners almost had a collective coronary whenever they heard Ka’Deem Carey was getting the start, but all was made right when Langford came in and kept the job. He should get major run again against the Rams, but I wouldn’t expect such prodigious output in that matchup.

  • Danny Woodhead is almost an RB1, and Melvin Gordon is lucky to get a RB3 designation. It’s crazy how things have shaped up this season. With Allen gone for the season, Woodhead is going to maintain his role.

  • Malcolm Floyd could miss some time, but he had caught 0 passes even before his injury. Never one to amass targets, Floyd never was going to be the guy to fill Allen’s shoes.

  1. I have a shot at getting Sammy Watkins or Devante Adams off waivers this week. Who would you prioritise?

    1. adams has the better matchup this week. watkins is on revis island.

  2. Would you go Palmer or Fitzpatrick this week?

    1. fitz may miss time with his surgery. I’d go palmer

  3. 12 team standard league i had Lewis. Langford,Stewart,Sims,R.mathews,J.starks, and k.williams still on waivers. Also a lacy owner thinking about dropping him for Stark’s what do you think

    1. stewart, starks, williams, langford, sims, mathews in that order. I’d hold lacy if possible though…or trade him.

  4. RW Team:
Quick waiver question for a 12 team, 1pt PPR league — Rishard Matthews (MIA WR) and DGB (TEN WR) are both on waiver. Which one do you recommend picking up? I checked the WK9 WW Cheatsheet but it only had one of them listed and not both – so I wasn’t sure. Thanks guys!

    1. Matthews isn’t on the wwcs because he should already be owned. He’s the first option imo.

      1. Much appreciated! That’s what I thought but wanted a sanity check. Guy dropped R.Matthews before last week’s games, which is why he is on waivers now. Hope to get him tonight.

  5. Standard scoring question.. Rank these rbs in order for the rest of the season.. Char. West, Chris Ivory, J. Hill, TJ Yeldon, Deanglo WIlliams.. Also please rank these wrs- M Evans, S Diggs, B Cooks, B. Lafell. Thanks!!!

  6. Waiver question. I have Lacy and Dion Lewis to hurting at RB. Available on waivers this week: James White, Brandon Bolden, Antonio Andrew, and Joique Bell. What order should I go after these RB’s?

    1. Andrews, Bell, White, Bolden

  7. M. Ryan on bye..
Fitzpatrick or Teddy Bridgewater if he plays. (ugly decision)

Thx! Listen to you guys all the time

    1. Fitzpatrick

      1. Thx.. Appreciate your time.

  8. Some of you guys are playing in horrible leagues or ones with small rosters. Can’t believe some of the players y’all are mentioning as available in 12 team leagues.

  9. Two part question….

    Need 2 of 3: K. Williams, Starks, Hillman….?

I picked up Inman late last week as FA. With A. Cooper possibly hurt would you go get Givens or possibly Walters as insurance?? Or keep Inman with Allen and now Floyd down??
