Trashman’s Fantasy Fallout Going Into Week 6

TrashmanI’m still riding on a cloud after watching the Cowboys trounce the Bengals from the comfort of the Founder’s Club, beneath the watchful, wooden gaze of Jerry Jones, but I’ve come back to earth just long enough to give the fantasy fallout from this weekend’s matchups. (Editor’s note: he didn’t pay a cent for his tickets).

Here goes:

Patriots vs Browns

-Brady is back, and he’s intent on making the football world pay for its insolence. Chris Hogan should be added in most formats as one of his primary tools of submission. Just be wary of inconsistency.

-Any thoughts of Bennett losing value are unfounded. He and Gronk are TE1 plays.

-Kessler should be back under center next week. Aren’t you relieved?

-The Pats find what you’re best at and then stifle it, hence the Crowell shut down. He’ll bounce back.

-Time to get Coleman back on your rosters.

Jets vs Steelers

-Jets players are suffering from the loss of Decker. Forte is losing snaps to Powell who is on the field primarily to catch balls. Fitzpatrick isn’t nearly the QB he was when Decker was there to deflect attention from Marshall and catch TDs.

-Forte makes for a nice buy low though.

-I had a feeling Coates would go off this week, and it paid off. Even in a game marred by drops, he still went bananas. I’m starting him for the foreseeable future. Wheaton is waiver wire fodder.

Eagles vs Lions

-Smallwood took a big backseat to Mathews and Sproles in a losing effort that was largely due to a Mathews fumble. I haven’t given up on him yet, but he’s best left on benches until the Eagles realize he should be on the field.

-Agholor led the Eagles with 7 targets.

-Zenner did nothing to keep Washington from taking short yardage carries back when he’s healthy.

Bears vs Colts

-The Bears are still losing, but Hoyer has been a much more effective QB than Cutler. He’s been a QB1 in all of his starts this season and should be started against Jacksonville next week.

-Cameron Meredith stepped in right where Kevin White left off and became a target monster for Hoyer. He did a lot more with those targets too. He’s a must add in all formats.

-Dorsett is too boom or bust to be depended on right now.

Titans vs Dolphins

-Don’t be fooled by Mariota’s points. He was extremely TD dependent, barely throwing over 160 yds. He’s still not worth starting on most days.

-Just like last year, Walker is coming out as the only startable Titan’s pass catcher. Sharpe has fallen off a cliff.

-Tannehill continues to falter behind a poor offensive line. When Jay Ajayi is the lone bright spot on the day, something has gone terribly wrong. Maybe Foster coming back will change things up, but it might be time to move your Dolphins skill players.

Redskins vs Ravens

-Cousins is a QB2 until something changes. I’d rather start Hoyer these days.

-The firing of Marc Trestman should change the Ravens to a run heavy team. West gets a bump.

-The Ravens weren’t kidding when they said they’d bring Dixon along slowly. He belongs on the bench for now.

Texans vs Vikings

-The Texans have looked terrible in their losses, and Osweiler has been a QB2 at best. His inability to get the offense into the red-zone limits all of his skill players’ upsides. The fact that the Texans have invested so much in him makes the possibility of them looking elsewhere this season very low.

-Diggs will be back after the bye, but Thielen is playing well enough to add if you need the help.

-Asiata had a good day, but much of it came in garbage time. See what you can get for him on the trade market if you own him. He’s going to be up and down all season.

Falcons vs Broncos

-With their WRs bottled up, Atlanta resorted to their run and short-passing game against the Broncos to stellar results. Coleman makes for another strong play next week against Seattle for similar reasons.

-Julio makes for a shaky play next week for those same reasons.

-Booker is working his way into a timeshare with Anderson. He needs to be owned, and it might be time to ship Anderson while you can get RB1 value out of him.

-Lynch is the future in Denver, but Siemian is still their best bet to win right now. He’ll be their starter.

Bengals vs Cowboys

-The Bengals were lethargic and useless until the 4th quarter, after the game was well out of hand. I’m hesitant to use any of them next week in another road game against the Patriots.

-The Cowboys could do no wrong against the Bengals, running the ball with ease no matter if it was Elliot or Morris. They’ll have a harder time next week against the Packers. If Elliot produces like this against them, the sky’s the limit this season. (It kind of already is).

-If Dez still can’t go next week, I like Butler’s chances, despite his lackluster line from this game. He had a TD taken away by an illegal shift penalty, and he was often Dak’s first read in the red-zone.

Bills vs Rams

-Taylor’s inaccuracy through the air is going to make boom or bust days for Bills WRs, as none of them see double digit targets.

-Britt is 0% TD dependent on the season as the Rams’ de facto no.1. He’s going to have a career best year yardage wise if he keeps his consistency up.

Chargers vs Raiders

-The Chargers WRs went nuts on arguably the worst pass defense in the league, but I’m only vying on their TEs next week against the Broncos.

-The Inman week 4 monster was a one week affair. He’s back to fantasy irrelevance.

-Both Richard and Washington were useful with Murray out. It was already a timeshare before he got hurt, and that’s not going to change when he returns. For the time being, Richard and Washington are both flex worthy in deeper PPRs.

Giants vs Packers

-Can we all just agree that Manning is the worst? Don’t hold him on name recognition. There are better options every week.

-Bobby Rainey retains the most value if Jennings returns next week.

-Lacy is fat, and now he’s injured. Pick up Starks where you can. He’ll have a productive day against the Cowboys next week due to his pass catching if Lacy sits.

-I would also say the same about Adams. Mo Claiborne is shutting down teams’ top WRs, making their 2s and 3s more productive, a la LaFell this week.

  1. Would you trade away Melvin Gordon and John Brown to get back DeAndre Hopkins at this point or is he done for the year with the current QB situation?

    1. it depends on how badly you need wr help. it’s always easier to manufacture wr points from waivers than rbs

      1. We start 2 rb 2 wr. PPR I have D.Martin, CJ ANderson, and GOrdon at RB with Prior and ANtionio Brown at WR. Is the Upgrade from Prior to Hopkins worth the downgrade/loss of depth to go do D. Martin and Anderson. Let me know your thoughts.

  2. Thoughts on DJax ROS?

Would you drop him for MThomas WR or J Richard RB?

    Great summary — THX

    1. Maybe for Thomas. They have similar ceilings, but Thomas may actually have the more consistent floor, though it’s hard to tell in a Saints offense. I profiled him as a sort of Colston-esqe replacement after the draft, so he could maintain some consistency. Murray is still in the conversation in Oakland so I’m staying away unless I have to.

  3. 10-team, standard scoring and due to injury & J Gordon bad luck just clawed my way back to 3-2. I’m looking to strengthen my WR group for ROS. Do you agree with my thinking to drop K Rudolph for one of the following (in my ranked order) off ww?

    Coates/Lockett/C Hogan/Royal/C Meredith

    My team:
    QB Carr/Wentz
    RB Bell/Zeke/C Michael/T Coleman & DeAndre Washington
    WR Cooper/Maclin/TyWill/Hurns
    TE Graham/Eifert/Rudolph

I’m also trying to get Gio off ww for D Washington.

Any advice or opinions is much appreciated, and my thanks in advance. fb

  4. 12man ppr…………………. on my bench I have Winston (backup QB w/Stafford as my starter), Artis-Payne, R. Jennings, J. Starks (I have Lacy), E. Decker, Tyrell Williams & A. Gates (J. Reed my starter). On the wavier wire is Bobby Rainey and Alex Smith……..your thoughts on dropping Winston for A. Smith moving forward and who could I drop for Rainey or should I stand pat with my rbs (my starters are Ingram/Lacy so far with Sproles at the flex) (oh waiver wire pickups are $5 each fyi)……

    Thanks

  5. Have to drop 1, Ryan Matthews, Matt jones, or Terrance west.

Also I still have Watkins on ir reserve spot. Would you drop Robert woods to get hogan?

  6. I already own Edelman do I pick up Hogan or make merridith my #1 priority. .thoughts kerley in a full point ppr?

  7. Post By Organizedchaos

    Thanks for these Fallout summaries!

Likely just a flex play on my team, but would you take Robert Woods or Britt at this point? Is one worth holding onto or can these guys be picked up and dropped depending on matchups? We are a 12 team league and it seems like all the guys are rosterwatch members lol. Any other suggestions you’d make?

I am guilty of trying to stash RB’s.

    Carson Wentz
Gordon, West, Coleman, Matt Jones, Perkins, Smallwood
AJ Green, Hopkins, Shepherd, Corey Coleman (IR), Woods
    Kelce, Henry
    Ravens
    Catanzaro

    1. They have a similar profile. I’d like to say woods had the higher upside of the two, based on targets, but that has yet to be seen.

  8. Who would you start as a flex option
    10 team ppr
Crowell Desean Jackson or Devante Parker or terrelle pryor
And is cameron meredith a must start WR
    Thanks

  9. What do you think about dropping Desean jackson for chis hogan

    1. It’s too soon to do anything like that.

I’m trying to shop CJA. Would Jamaal Charles be considered an upgrade at this point?

    1. For rest of season, yes. Not so much in the sorry term

  11. Would you trade away Spencer Ware to get Doug Martin? I’m thinking with Charles coming back, and Sims now on IR, Martin could be a hound after the bye. Thoughts?

    1. Only if you’re not a Charles owner

  12. Hey TM, rolling pretty nicely in 14-teamer but QB spot (Cousins, Mariota) is sort of a concern. Thinking of offering Cousins and M. Thomas (NO) to Brady owner for Derek Carr.

At WR the other guy has Antonio Brown, Cooks, and not much else…to give you an idea his next best option is R. Woods, who he is flexing this week. Might be willing to deal Tyrell instead of M. Thomas if necessary… Reasonable offer?
