Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 2

Trashman BylineIt’s week 2 of the NFL season, and the waiver wires and daily leagues are rife with stinky starting material. As Always, these players are all owned in less than 30% of standard leagues.

Ebron 750

Rashad Greene WR, Jaguars: Only 3 players had more targets than Greene in Week 1, and while his 13 looks seemingly came out of nowhere, Greene’s pass-catching prowess is nothing new. He’s the all-time reception and receiving yards leader at Florida State. Greene’s targets are worth chasing, particularly in PPR formats.

Nate Washington WR, Texans: Nasty Nate is doing damage in fantasy with a significant role in the Texans offense to the tune of 6 catches and 105 yds in Week 1. I’m not saying he’ll get that sick again this week, but I’ve always loved Washington for his ability to unassumingly rack up targets. He’s one of the most solid receivers in football IMO, and he’s finally getting his due in Houston it would seem. With teams quickly realizing that Hopkins is the best playmaker the Texans have, Washington will thrive on this lack of attention.

Jermaine Kearse WR, Seahawks: Kearse began the season with an respectable 8 receptions for 76 yards Week 1. It might have been due to the gameflow, but he’s worth a run in what could be a high-scoring game versus the Packers this week. I’ve often wondered what kind of production Kearse could have in an offense that fed him the ball regularly. (Editor’s note: Who the hell wonders that?) It looks like we might find out this season.

Karlos Williams RB, Bills: Somehow, Karlos Williams is owned in only 18% of leagues right now. I guess the other 82% of owners didn’t see his eye-opening TD run against Indy last week or read their RosterWatch during the offseason. If they had, they’d realize that the young man is quite beastly and is in line for more carries even if McCoy plays this week. I think McCoy owners should at least try handcuffing Williams, and I hate that strategy 99% of the time.

Lance Dunbar RB, Cowboys: Yes ladies and gentlemen, Lance Dunbar was the leading receiver for the Cowboys in their miracle comeback on Sunday night with 8 catches for 70 yards. With Dez still out, and going up against an Eagles team that is going bleed offense, look for Dunbar to be heavily involved again this week.

Nick Foles QB, Rams: I guess, coming into the season, that everybody forgot that Foles could ball with the best of ‘em. He certainly jogged my memory against Seattle. A win over the Seahawks will build anyone’s confidence, and a matchup with the Redskins will put them over the top. That’s what Foles has this week, and while I don’t know that he has the offensive tools and offensive line to be an every week starter, he’s an easy DFS and deeper league decision here in week 2.

Jared Cook TE, Rams: Cook was Foles favorite target in week 1, and he should continue to be a safety blanket and seam buster against Washington. Always a bridesmaid, and never a bride – Cook routinely racks up yards but rarely TDs, this could finally be the year that Cook finally eclipses 5 TDs in a season.

Eric Ebron TE, Lions: Ebron finally seems to understand the playbook after an underwhelming rookie season that made a lot of people forget his sky high fantasy potential. What’s more important this week is that Brandon Pettigrew is out, leaving Ebron to pick up extra snaps and assumedly targets. I like him to go big this week against Minnesota.

  1. 12 Team Standard

    (1) QB: Dalton
    (2) WR: A. Brown, Hopkins (Watkins, R. White, Stevie Johnson)
    (2) RB: Forte, Abdullah (Gore, T. Mason, K. Williams)
    (1) TE: Rudolph
    (1) FLEX: D. Martin
    Bench total : (5)

Well I stashed Karlos Williams midweek and dropped my DEF but now is the time to pick up another DEF so who gets cut from this team?

Also which DEF should I roll with?
    Colts vs. NYJ
    Browns vs. TEN
    Saints vs. TB
    Cardinals @CHI

    1. Would drop either: Karlos, Watkins, or maybe even Mason- hate to drop any but unfort these are the tough decisions we have to make.

Both Saints and Browns scored 1 pt on DEF last week, hate recommending either but they do have the best matchup. If Alshon is out- we’d go ARZ. If not- we might take our chances with CLE one more time

    2. i guess i’d cut mason if you don’t plan on playing him this week. i’d roll with AZ

      1. Thanks guys! Hey Trashman, so based on your advice for my PPR league where you said you’d start Mason over Doug Martin at the FLEX if Gurley doesn’t play today @WAS … does the same advice apply here in this STANDARD league? I’m afraid of how Martin will do especially since the game flow against the Saints might not go in his favor…

I wasn’t originally planning on starting Mason so I’m leaning towards dropping him out of those three if I don’t end up starting him, because my league is full of Pats fans so I’m sure all eyes will be on Watkins and Karlos WIlliams today and if they exceed expectations, there’s a good chance I won’t get either of them back on Tues!

        1. i’m more into mason in standard than ppr actually

  2. 14 Team Half-PPR

    QB: Brady
    WR: AJ Green, Calvin Johnson
    RB: DeAngelo Williams, Isaiah Crowell
    TE: Kelce
    K: Zuerlein
    DEF: Broncos

Who should I start at Flex?

Bench: Tre Mason, Nelson Agholor, Shane Vereen, Matt Jones, Karlos Williams, Ellington (Hurt)

I have Agholor as flex, but very tempted to put in Mason or Williams. Thoughts?

  3. What do you think, drop Devonta Freeman for K Williams?

    1. if you’re a mccoy or dynasty owner
