Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 3

Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 3

After week 2’s onslaught of injuries, there are multiple opportunities to capitalize on the vacancies left behind with these waiver wire gems.

Joe Flacco QB, Ravens: Flacco was in the grab last week, where he put up good numbers, and I like his odds even more this week against the Jags. who are improved but still susceptible to big plays.

Alex Smith QB, Chiefs: The Jets are almost impervious to the run, but teams have been throwing on them all day, even with Revis in the mix. Smith stunk up the place in week 2 after going bonkers the week prior, but I think he’ll perform closer to his week 1 outing at home.

Matt Asiata RB, Vikings: The last time AP got hurt in 2014, it was Asiata who picked up the pieces, averaging over 9 fantasy pts a game. Even with McKinnon “leading” the backfield, I expect Asiata to handle the goal line carries and garbage time play.

Jordan Howard RB, Bears: Howard’s a guy we liked out of college, and he looks a whole lot better than Langford to everyone right now – which is of most importance. Langford’s snaps are going down and Howard is getting more and more carries. Don’t be surprised if he outsnaps Langford as early as this week against Dallas, who is susceptible to the run.

Cameron Artis-Payne RB, Panthers: Payne is a starting RB on the reigning NFC Championship team for 2 -3 weeks. Pick him up now and play him where you need him.

Dwayne Washington RB, Lions: Theo Riddick isn’t big enough or durable enough to carry the mail all day versus the Pack. Washington is going to get his chances on the goal line and with double digit carries throughout the game.

Sammie Coates WR, Steelers: Big Ben wants to turn Coates into Martavis Bryant whether he likes it or not. He’ll get a handful of deep shots against a beatable Philly secondary this week.

Quincy Enunwa WR, Jets: Brandon Marshall is probably going to give it a go this week, but he may end up being more decoy than anything, leaving Decker and Enunwa to soak up targets. Already plenty effective with a healthy Marshall on the field, Enunwa could be in for a big day against the Chiefs who are middling against the pass.

Eddie Royal WR, Bears: Royal has quietly racked up double digit pts in his first two games on the season, and is likely to have another productive day as new QB Brian Hoyer’s safety valve against a ho-hum Cowboy’s secondary.

Kenny Britt WR, Rams: It looks like Britt is finally putting it together as a Ram, leading the team in receiving thus far. Case Keenum is going to have to open up the pass to take some pressure off of Todd Gurley.

Jamison Crowder WR, Redskins: I had to throw Crowder in again for good measure. He’s still lightly owned, and he’s still leading the ‘Skins in targets. Expect him to do to the Giants what Cole Beasley did, and maybe more, in week 1.

Hunter Henry TE, Chargers: Henry may be the future for Chargers TEs, and he gets a prime opportunity to take the mantle from an injured Antonio Gates against the sieve like Colts defense.

Trey Burton TE, Eagles: Burton didn’t miss a beat filling in for Zach Ertz last week, going for almost 50 yds and a TD. I expect him to do more of the same against Pittsburgh in week 3.

  1. With all of the RB injuries around the league, what are your thoughts on Karlos Williams after week 4?

  2. I’m pretty beat up about my team, just lost by 100 pts. Time to drop lockett, Sharpe, and Julius? What do I do with luck?

    A few waiver questions:
    1) Worth dropping M Bennett for Rudolph?
    2) Worth dropping Dixon for Howard?
    Thx!

Who is better for the rest of the season – Brandon Marshall or Amari Cooper?
