Trashman’s Garbage Grab: Week 6

This week is the time to shine for waiver wire dumpster diamonds, and I have a slew of them to polish off this week. These guys are great fill-ins in deeper and daily leagues in week 6.

Dexter McCluster RB, Titans: Bishop Sankey is the new hotness in Tennessee this week, but I have a feeling McCLuster and even Leon Washington are going to get their share of carries. I like McCluster’s pass catching ability and quickness to give him the edge as a flex flyer.

Corey Fuller WR, Lions: Calvin Johnson’s shoes take many a man to fill. Fuller, along with Golden Tate and another player who I will mention later in this piece, are going to have their hands full of receptions against a Minnesota team that is giving it up to the pass.

Bobby Rainey RB, Buccaneers: Rainey has been the most impressive of the Tampa Bay backs, and yet he’s owned in less than 30% of leagues. It’s obvious to me that he’s going to maintain a significant role in the offense and needs to be owned. Tampa is going to be running into a Ravens brick wall this week, so it makes sense that they would resort to getting the ball to Rainey in space.

Roy Helu Jr. RB, Redskins: Helu has amassed at least 50 yds in the air in each of the last 3 games, and he’ll probably do it again this week against a Cardinals team that is hard to run on. Helu is especially useful in ppr leagues.

Jordan Matthews WR, Eagles: Matthews is second on the team in targets, though it hasn’t been apparent in his meager output the last couple of weeks. Still, the rookie wideout has nowhere to go but up in the high octane Eagles scheme, and I like the divisional matchup against the Giants this week. There should be a ton of targets coming his way.

Tim Wright TE, Patriots: Tom Brady pretty much only likes throwing to his tight ends these days, and that’s good news for Wright who is assuming the move end role in the Pats’ offense. He racked up 85 yds and a TD on 5 receptions against the Bengals in a decisive win for New England last week, and I like him to continue his role as a major player as the Pats are hungry for capable pass catchers.

Jarius Wright WR, Vikings: Wright has had two straight games as the leader in targets for Minnesota, and he looks like the most dependable Vikings receiver right now, which sounds crazy I know. As a beneficiary of the second team doctrine, Wright is clicking with Bridgewater who is back after an ankle injury. It’s a tough matchup against Detroit, but Wright’s arrow is pointing up.

James Starks RB, Packers: The Packers claim they want to give Starks and Eddie Lacy significant carries, and while I don’t fully believe them, Starks has been productive in limited carries thus far and it makes sense to keep feeding him. Miami is giving up the 2nd most points to running backs, so this matchup is a good one for Starks.

Eric Ebron TE, Lions: Ebron makes another appearance in the grab, as Megatron is slated to sit this one out. He’ll be a primary end-zone target with no Calvin this week.

Austin Davis QB, Rams: Davis is still only owned in about 12% of leagues, and that’s pitiful for a guy who has put up two back to back 300 yd, 3 TD outings. San Fran is a lot easier to pass on than to run, so I like Davis’ chances to go 3 for 3. He’s going to pay dividends in 2 QB leagues.
