The Garbage Grab: Week 15

It’s week 15, and though my dumpster diamonds are quite as trashy as usual due to the dire situations most owners are finding themselves in, you should still be able to find most of these guys on your waiver wires.

Da’Rick Rogers WR, Indianapolis Colts: Rogers racked up 9 nine targets last Sunday and will probably gather just as many or more this week, with the news that LaVon Brazill is questionable at best to play. Rogers’ off field concerns won’t be an issue on the field, where he is an upstanding citizen who is impervious to single coverage.

Chris Ogbonnaya RB, Cleveland Browns: With the loss of Willis McGahee to concussion this week, there is finally some transparency in the Browns’ backfield. Ogbonnaya will be lead back, getting involved in the passing game as well. He gets to face the worst rush defense in the league in the Lions, so he’s actually a safer play than a lot of guys this week.

Justin Hunter WR, Tennessee Titans: Hunter would be a lock for a big game if he was facing pretty much anyone other than the Cardinals. As it stands, he still has a shot to do some damage on account of his great hands and frequent red zone usage. With his ability to stretch the field, he only needs a few catches to make his money.

Daniel Thomas RB, Miami Dolphins: Yes, Lamar Miller will most likely be back this week, but Miami would be foolish not to involve Thomas after his impressive 105 yard, 1 TD game last week. The Patriots haven’t been too stout versus the run recently, so there may be plenty or action to go around for both backs.

Andrew Quarless TE, Green Bay Packers: Quarless finally stepped up with a 6 catch 66 yard, 1 TD game last week, and though it may seem apprehensive to start him this week, the Cowboys are one of the best teams to to start tight ends against. The short game is all that Matt Flynn can handle, so I expect Quarless to have similar numbers tomorrow.

Jerome Simpson WR, Minnesota Vikings: As much as we’ve tried to ignore Simpson from a fantasy standpoint, it’s hard to ignore three straight serviceable games in which his fantasy production has increased weekly– he got 8 targets last week. The Vikings are playing the league’s worst pass defense in the Eagles this week, so if there’s a game to believe in Simpson, this is it.

Jordan Todman RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: Todman is no phenom, but he is most likely going to be the starting running back on an NFL team facing one of the weakest run defenses in the league tomorrow. That alone warrants his fantasy consideration, as Todman will get close to 20 carries against the Bills.

Knile Davis RB, Kansas City Chiefs: The gnarliest of the trash this week, Davis stands to get some run in a game versus the Raiders that the Chiefs should run away with early. He’s a powerful back that would be a starter on most other teams, but unfortunately for Davis he plays on the same team with Jamaal Charles. The Chiefs could sit Charles early though, should this game turn out like we’re all guessing it will.

Ace Sanders WR, Jacksonville Jaguars: Somehow Sanders has gone unnoticed in most fantasy leagues, even after posting fantasy games of 6 or more points for four straight weeks. Cecil Shorts is looking doubtful this week, possibly leaving Sanders to be the team’s number one receiving option against the Bills. This has the makings of season best outing for Sanders.
