Johnny Manziel Has Been Told By Browns “You’re the Backup”

Mary Kay Cabot is reporting that, in his post-draft interview with the (very dysfunctional) Cleveland media, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam was adamant in his stance of Brian Hoyer being the starting Browns quarterback heading into the 2014 season.

#browns haslam said Manziel has been told things like "you're the backup" and "this is not Hollywood." He said "Brian Hoyer is the starter"

With WR Josh Gordon’s situation looking truly dubious, it may be best for Manziel not to get thrown immediately into the fire before the Browns can put some pieces in place to give him a better shot at success. Hoyer is coming off an ACL injury and entering the final year of his Browns contract, so, for now at least, it looks like he’ll be the first man up to add his name onto this notorious list …
