Dan Jordan, LS Lock Haven: Scouting Report and Video Interview
One of my absolute favorite players to talk to at the Dream Bowl (and in general) was Dan Jordan, a long snapper, from Lock Haven University. Dan was not only a great long snapper at Lock Haven but also a track and field star at Penn State. Dan has great athletic lineage. His mom, Teri Jordan, ran in the two-mile relay in the 1976 Olympic games in Montreal. Dan the Man (5-11, 245) was the only long snapper at the Dream Bowl and happily volunteered to snap on punts and field goals not for one team, but both! He was named the Dream Bowl Special Teams MVP easily.
Unfortunately, Dan had a partial tear to his ACL at the PSAC Conference Championships as he was warming up for the 35-pound weight throw. He is rehabbing and should be back to full health in no time. He was a fantastic interview and regardless of what happens with his football career moving forward, he has a bright future ahead. In a few years we could be talking about Dan Jordan, the long snapper, and if not, we’ll be talking about Dan Jordan the football coach or Dan Jordan, the scout.
Positives:
– Great leadership qualities
– Very versatile. He can snap for punts and field goals
– He’s really accurate
– Snaps with power
– Extremely technical and focused on attention to details
– Great athletic background
– Timed snap at .74 seconds. ~ 40 mph snap
Negatives:
– A little shorter than you’d like
– Has a tendency to aim the ball and get too technical
– Level of competition (although snapping is snapping)
– Doesn’t offer much as an emergency tight end or linebacker (although he was an All-Conference defensive end and offensive lineman in high school)
– Not as many years of experience as you’d like
