PRO: RosterWatch Week 7 Matchup Tool

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested, most popular tool, the instructions couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Chargers TE Antonio Gates, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look at the Chargers’ matchup for the week, and see what the number is inside the “vs. TEs” cell for the Chargers’ OPPONENT.

(Gates is a TE, and you would like to know his opponent’s rank vs. that position.)

As you will see, the Chargers are playing the Raiders, who have a big, blue ‘No. 1’ in their “vs. TEs” cell. This is a great indicator for Gates owners or even those of Ladarius Green.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit.

“1″ is the best matchup, “32″ is the worst.

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics from 2015, but also weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive unit scouting grades for members of the 2015 unit that will be defending, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question.

      I wouldn’t do it. Ellington got fewer snaps than David Johnson last week, I think only 7, and his points have been made from singular big plays.

      I think Rawls is safest to drop. I’d pick up cutler but it’s a bye week so i’d go hoyer.

    Who do you have more faith in ROS in a ppr league: OBJ or A. Brown? Going to go after one of them in a trade. Is a package Woodhead and John Brown too much to give up? Right now I have RBs: L. Bell, Ingram, Woodhead, D. Martin, Duke Johnson and Rawls WRs: Hopkins, Marshall, S. Smith, John Brown, Snead and Stevie Johnson. (Thanks Draft Day Cheat Sheet!!)       Love them both- whichever you can get a better deal on. Small edge is to Brown with Big Ben back, and you may be able to buy him lower. No, that would be a great deal if you could land either for that combo!

    Someone dropped Denver DST, clears waivers on Friday. 12 team PPR. I would have to drop Riddick, Diggs, or C. Michael to pick up and stash. (Current D is PHI) Or perhaps drop Tate?
    Other WR are A. Brown, Hilton, Jeffery, Tate, and Hurns (Start 3 or 4)
    Other RB are Gore, L. Murray, & Ivory (Start 2 or 3)
    I’m 3 & 3 and will need to win out to make playoffs.
    Any advice?

    Barnidge according to the tool is a “no bueno” this week, I have walker at TE. Should I go garçon or Evans at the flex?

      Evans or Barnidge should be the play. Remember – everybody was scared of Barnidge two weeks ago vs BAL DEF that had only allowed 3 total points to fantasy TEs through the first month of season. Then Barndige hung a 20 pointer on em. He’s McCowns #1 or #2 target- the Browns don’t have much of a choice but to feed him.

      Evans a predictably bad season- but always a threat for huge upside. You’ll need to split those hairs between now and SUN

    12 team full point ppr league. We roster a maximum of 4 RBs and have to drop a RB to pick up a RB off of waivers.

    Current RBs: LeVeon Bell, Justin Forsett, Devonta Freeman, and Shane Vereen.

    Someone just dropped both Jeremy Hill and Tevin Coleman. I am not usually in favor of rostering RB handcuffs. However, would you drop Vereen for either of these two RBs? I tried dropping Vereen for Christine Michael and James Starks but some other owners were able to snatch up those two RBs.

      We aren’t fans of always handcuffing either- but do believe in rostering high-efficience handcuffs- which we believe Coleman is. All Freeman owners should be rostering Coleman at this point. Yes, we would drop Vereen in 1 second for him. Jeremy Hill should also be owned if you have a backup QB or crappy WR to drop.

      This depends on how many WR you can start. We are certainly in favor of Brown with Big Ben coming back- however Cooks is useless to you- while Steve Smith is a solid fantasy player. Also, if you made the move- you’d be going all in every week with Ben, Brown, LeVeon- which we don’t necessarily hate- but prob limits your upside in any give a week by a tiny bit. Close call here- Brown is the best player rest of season. So if you can only start 3 WR and aren’t able to currently play Steve Smith- we’d prob do it.

    Where would you guys rank Sammy Watkins’ fantasy value for the rest of the season (10 team standard) given his injuries/current state of Bills offense? Would Snead or Diggs be ahead of him (both still on waivers in my league). I have Bennett on a bye this week so had to pick up Rudolph, who I’m going to drop after this week in hopes of getting one of those guys, but hopefully it is not too late at that point. I could drop Sammy now for one of them though. Appreciate the help

      He’s still arguably one of the best athletes in the league, so you can never count him out, but diggs is a great athlete too and has a better situation. I think all of these players have similar outlooks, big games in stretches with a few disappearing acts throughout. Thing is, it seems like you can afford to wait on sammy as your team is pretty deep at wr.
