PRO: RosterWatch Week 8 Matchup Tool
Welcome back. This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch.
It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested, most popular tool, the instructions couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.
…
INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.
Let’s say you own Lions WR Calvin Johnson, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.
First, look at the Lions’ matchup for the week, and see what the number is inside the “vs. WRs” cell for the LIONS’ OPPONENT.
(Johnson is a WR, and you would like to know his opponent’s rank vs. that position.)
As you will see, the Lions are playing the Chiefs, who have a big, blue ‘No. 1’ in their “vs. WRs” cell. This is a great indicator for Megatron owners and those of other Lions wideouts like Golden Tate.
Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and sit in season-long leagues and which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests.
“1″ is the best matchup, “32″ is the worst.
COLOR-CODES
BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups
The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics from 2015, but also weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive unit scouting grades for members of the 2015 unit that will be defending, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question.

Dang you guys saved my you know what last week with that Hoyer call, wow! Thank you. So what are you guys thinking for this week? Flacco, hoyer, mc own, or cutler? And is Sam Bradford droppable for one of these guys?
Thanks!
We’d roll Cutler- and yes Bradford can be dropped for him. Good luck!

Alex, who do you think I should start this week in a 1 point PPR? Choose 2 for RB2 and FLEX: Doug Martin, Chris Ivory, Jeremy Hill, and Martavis Bryant.
I might as well edit this a little bit, because I’m concerned a little about Amari Cooper with his Jets matchup this week and his trip to Revis Island.
So, I need someone for my WR3 spot, RB2 spot, and FLEX. Here are my options in a 1 point PPR.
RB – Charcandrick West, Jeremy Hill, Chris Ivory, Doug Martin
WR – Amari Cooper, Martavis Bryant
Martin for sure
very close between Ivory and Martavis- hard to sit Ivory at this point- prob roll him out unless he sounds balky over the weekend with his quad / hammy

I was looking at the Rankings this week and didn’t see Matt Forte, Demaryius Thomas, Martelus Bennett and some others that were on a bye last week. Is this a glitch or are you guys still updating the rankings?
12 team full point ppr league. 6 points per receiving TD. We start 1 TE and are forced to roster 2 TEs. Current TEs are Kyle Rudolph and Richard Rogers. Eric Ebron is available on waivers. Which TE would you drop for Ebron?
Should def drop Rodgers for Ebron!

Have an rb and a flex dilemma…..I have devonte freeman. Need one more rb. Latavius murray, Jeremy hill, or antonio Andrews? And for flex….willie snead, Brandon lafell, davante adams, or one of those rbs? Thanks aging rw!
Oh and it’s ppr
This one is tough- we hate Latavius this week. I’m personally starting Andrews over him in a standard format. Would prob roll Hill out there. Def recommend you look at the Trashman’s flex rankings on Saturday to help with this one!
Should I play Golden Tate or Darren McFadden this week in a 0.5 PPR? Matchups are at opposite ends of the spectrum, but Tate has been awful all season for me. I was even thinking about dropping Tate for David Cobb since he’ll be activated for week 9 and I’m weak at RB. Thoughts?
We like a potential Cobb pickup. The Randle situation makes us like McFadden a tiny bit more than usual- but we are rolling with the matchups here with these two turds. We’d roll out Tate- if he’s going to go big this is the week.

Trade question for you…trade away Tevin Coleman for Darren McFadden?
Current RBs are L. Bell, West, Abdullah, Coleman and D. Williams. Have been holding onto Tevin Coleman b/c there is no one else on the WW (Joique Bell, Bradshaw, Polk, Kyle Jusczcyk) and if Freeman gets hurt, he should step in…although he can’t even vulture carries from Freeman b/c he keeps fumbling.
Does it make sense to do this trade and pick up a starter? Unfortunately, Michael is already rostered on someone else’s roster. For me, it would be a no brainer if I could get Michael also b/c McFadden is injury prone.
We would probably do this. McFadden has an opportunity to help your RB corps for at least the short-term future. Coleman only has value to the Freeman owner. We agree he’d be very valuable if Freeman went down (more so than McFadden)- but you can’t spend your whole season hoping for an injury. Good luck!

yes
PRO sub, thanks for the 6-1 guys, keep up the great work! 14 team .5 point PPR league. Trade question: Should I trade one of my players for one of these TEs (one owner has all of them!). Available TEs: Gronk, G Olsen, J Thomas, A Seferian-Jenkins. Who should I shoot for and what is the lowest and highest I should offer? Or should I just leave as is?
Here’s my team:
QB Dalton (E Manning)
WR Julio Jones, E Sanders, B Marshall (flex) (S Smith Sr., James Jones)
RB M Forte, D Freeman, (A Abdullah, T Riddick)
TE K Rudolph
Thanks!
Cory,
Yes, you should make an offer for one of them. Obv would love to get hands on Gronk- but other owner will likely want too much unless he has another guy you think is a buy low you could maybe also get back in the deal. Prob- Olsen is going to be your best value for an elite option. Maybe Smith Sr or James Jones straight up for Olsen maybe throw in Abdullah or Riddick.
Don’t hate Rudolph this week so the other sneaky thing may be play Rudolph this week but go ahead and trade for ASJ while the news bout him still sounds a little concerning. Could prob just give up Abdullah or Riddick for him.
Also- as a Freeman owner- it’s high time you find a way to get Tevin Coleman on your roster!
Good luck!
-Byron
i’d trade one of those last two wrs for olsen
Thanks, sounds good! I have been trying to trade for Coleman, need to keep working on her 🙂 I’ll let you know how it all shakes out.
Hey guys, have a trade question.
Standard League my RB’s:
Leveon Bell
Doug Martin
Justin Forsett
Latavius Murray
Karlos Williams
WR: Alshon Jeffery
Calvin Johnson
Steve Smith
James Jones
Jeremy Maclin
Stephon Diggs
Guy wants Murray for Julian Edelman. Thoughts?
Also, I’m looking to trade Alshon Jeffery for Tyler Eifert. Thoughts?
Wish I would’ve found this site sooner. Love this site!
I’d do it
Hi Kid,
In general- Edelman for Murray. is fine You don’t even necessarily need Murray. Only issue we see is your WR are even deeper than your RBs- not sure getting Edelman in every week will be a no brainer- at which point you may wish you still had the RB depth. If you acquire Edelman- yes you should deal off some of your WR depth to upgrade somewhere else. Alshon for Eifert is a little rich for us- Alshon is about to go off. If you could parlay Maclin, Jones, Smith, or Diggs into Eifert somehow- we’d like that more.
Good luck,
Byron
Thanks for the help. Riding a 4 week win streak with you guys
Any thoughts on who to start in the flex this week?
RB: Forte, Doug Martin
WR: Emmanuel Sanders, Steve Smith
Flex Options: Frank Gore, Amari Cooper, Donte Moncrief, Michael Crabtree?
Well per the matchup tool – Gore is the play here. Very, very difficult to sit Amari Cooper right now. Please see the Trashman’s flex rankings on SAT for the final decision.
-Byron
I have a offensive position flex spot…..I could play tannehill there and rivers as my qb1. Only scoring addition is 2 points per 5 completed passes. Or flex one of my receivers (ppr) Brandon marshal, Steve smith sr., stefon Diggs or ladarius green.
What is it about E. Sanders that y’all don’t like this week? Based on the rankings, I would be starting Marshall, Diggs, and Smith over him in a 0.5 PPR. Seems scary to do with how reliable Sanders has been all season.
0.5 PPR
RB2 slot – Latavius Murray vs Jets or McFadden vs Seahawks?
FLEX – Golden Tate vs Chiefs or Travis Kelce vs Lions?
Trade conversation has been opened. I have Donnell and J. Thomas currently on my roster as TE, have been streaming and hoping all year (been a struggle). I have OBJ, Marshall, Moncrief, Davante Adams and Dez at WR.
Was offered either Gates or Eifert for one of those guys. I would perfer Eifert but which WR would you ship? I’m not comfortable losing OBJ or Marshall. Not sure Moncrief or Adams will do the deal. What about Dez? Who knows what he’ll be? Should I do it before re-injures?
maybe thomas and moncrief or adams would do it. i don’t think dez reinjures but he might not be great until romo gets back.
I have questions about how to strengthen my RB group for late & post season.
Standard 8-team league (3rd year playing, past two were 12-team leagues; 8-team is so different!)
Currently 5-2 and tied for 1st place (really appreciate your advice to-date)
League plays 2RB, 2WR, 1 RB/WR Flex
QB: Big Ben, Tannehill
RB: Freeman, Lacy, Woodhead, Blount
WR: J Jones, Hopkins, Landry, Evans, Cooks, Hurns, Diggs
TE: Gronk
Defense: Stream
Concerns about Lacy and want to add 1 or 2 RBs with good late season potential. My league is active with waivers but never seems to trade. I just got Diggs on waiver but missed out on West & McFadden. I think Andrews & Blue have limited upside; and considering Duke Johnson, Starks and/or Sims (maybe T Coleman as a handcuff). I think Hurns and/or Cooks are most expendable from my roster based on depth at WR position.
I’d really appreciate your opinions on both 1) RBs to pick, and 2) current players to drop. Thanks in advance.
