Jared Goff vs. UCLA 2015 (cut-up via DraftBreakdown)
Great clip at 1:12 –
-Pretty slick, steps up in pocket, slides subtly, avoids rusher, completes nice intermediate route over the middle to the hash
-Arm strength appears sufficient on driving type throws as well as with more arc down sideline
-Not many deep sideline passes but shows good placement when oppourtunity exists
-Shows good ability to throw intermediate to deep seam, sometimes is high
-So much better when setting feet, a trait that can easily be improved with NFL coaching
-His arm strength is reminiscent of Mariota
-Fairly quick, compact release
-Proficient at throwing on move, always looking to pass while scrambling
Despite the score, this UCLA tape is really nice. Goff takes what the defense gives him, but shows just about everything. Holds the ball a little too long on occasion against a nasty rush. Although, he doesn’t appear to get rattled at all after bearing a lot of pressure and taking hits. He’s not “seeing the rush”, while stepping up and still trying to make plays all the way until triple zero. UCLA has been an NFL factory for defensive talent under Mora, this was a good test.
