One strategy to employ in Fantasy this season is the Zero-RB Strategy.  It is a risky way to draft but, Pete Overzet joined Alex Dunlap on Episode 363 of the RosterWatch Fantasy Football Podcast and dished out ways to win with the Zero-RB strategy.  Pete also thinks there is a WR who could become this year’s Stefon Diggs!

A few highlights:

– The Zero-RB strategy has not been a popular way to draft this season, but if you are in a large pool best ball tournament it is a way to differentiate yourself from the pack.  Pete hasn’t drafted a RB until the 10th or 11th round in a couple of drafts but makes sure he snags an elite QB & TE so it balances out the points he will lose at the RB position.

– Some of the key RBs that Pete has taken with the Zero-RB approach has been the rookie backs in Javonte Williams & Travis Etienne, guys who are going in Rounds 5-8.  Other RBs he says you can target in this range are Damien Harris, the 49ers RBs (Raheem Mostert & TreySermon).  One of the RBs that Pete loves late this year is AJ Dillon.  He thinks Dillon could get more work in the Packers offense this year & if Aaron Jones was to go down at any point in the season, he would become the bell-cow back in that offense.  A few other RBs who could have big weeks by themselves are Gus Edwards & Jamaal Williams.  They aren’t the #1 RB on their teams but will see touches every game that will lead to PPR points & touchdowns

– If you draft with the opposite strategy, RB heavy in drafts, Pete says to load up at the WR position.  In a few drafts where Pete started with three RBs in the first three rounds, he then drafted 10 WRs so it would balance out with the teams that drafted elite WRs early.

– Unfortunately, rookie WR DeVonta Smith is already hindered with an injury and this is concerning for Pete.  He is dropping Smith on his rankings and won’t take him at his current ADP.  He thinks the injury could linger and he doesn’t see Smith as the automatic number one target in that offense anymore.  He hopes Smith’s ADP will drop by a couple of rounds where he becomes a value. A WR whose ADP is risen based on his training camp performance is CeeDee Lamb.  He is now being drafted in the early 3rd round and Pete doesn’t have a problem with that.  He loves the value of Gallup and thinks all 3 Cowboys WR can put up fantasy numbers this season and especially if one of them gets hurt during the year then the other 2 will become target monsters.

– The BIGGEST nugget Pete shared with us was his love for Odell Beckham Jr (OBJ).  He thinks OBJ could be this year’s Stefon Diggs and have a massive comeback season.  He likes the reports out of Browns training camp stating how OBJ is completely healthy and has a chemistry with Baker Mayfield.  Yes, we always have to take training camp news this early with a grain of salt but Pete is buying in on OBJ and if the Browns throw the ball more this season, OBJ could end up being the value pick in fantasy football drafts this year.

– One team Pete is staying away from are the Houston Texans.  With the uncertainty at the QB position he doesn’t know if any of the position players will have consistent fantasy output.  He has grabbed a few shares of Phillip Lindsay & Nico Collins because of how late they are going in drafts in the hopes they break out as value picks, but is generally staying away from this offense.
