RosterWatch Week 6 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2021 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Bills WR Stefon Diggs, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Bills (Diggs’ team). You will see that the Bills’ opponent (OPP) is the Titans in Week 6, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Titans’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the BILLS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the TITANS). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Bills, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Diggs faces our best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 6 (the Titans). This is a great indicator for owners of Diggs, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

  1. My team Play 2 RB 3 WR 1 Flex 1 TE
RB AKamara, JRobinson, MSanders, CEdmunds, M Davis, E Mitchell, DBooker
WR DHopkins, K Allen J Chase, Ant Brown
    IR JLAndry
    TE Knox

Should I cosnider dropping MDavis and/or EMitchell for
KToney (I have to play 3 WR)
    KGainwell (HC to MSanders)
    KHerbert

    1. I wouldn’t.

Even with them on byes, I wouldn’t drop a starting RB for a handcuff or a guy getting touches because starter is injured.

As for Toney, while he looked great against the cowboys, Shepard should be back this week and Golladay in the next couple. He very well could become their WR1, but how often would you play him over your 5 WRs currently.

I’d just stand pat and roll out Robinson/Edmonds/Hopkins/Chase/Allen/AB this week.

  2. My league has a dumb rule for IDPs. If you drafted a player, you can use him all year no problem. If your IDP wasn’t drafted by yourself, then he must play for the same DST you are starting. For example if I’m starting the Broncos DST, any IDP I pick up must be from the Broncos. Once an IDP is dropped he can only be used again if the team picking him up has the DST the player belongs to. If you stream DST you also have to stream IDP pickups, but if the player was drafted and never dropped, you can use him all year no matter what DST you play.
I drafted Deion Jones. who is on bye. Do I take the 0 this week or drop him and play IDP from Broncos for as long as I hold DST?

    1. Who is available from the Broncos defense as IDPs?

And what D/STs are available in your league?

  3. Worth burning the 2nd waiver on Trey Sermon?

Was dropped this week due to his bye for Darrel Williams

16 teamer .5ppr for RBs 1ppr everyone else

RBs: A Jones, Gibson, Mi Carter, Gainwell, Booker
WRs: Lamb, Higgins, Patrick, AB, R Moore, Amon-Ra (Jeudy/Hilton IR slots)

Thinking about going after A.J. Brown with Patrick and Booker. His RBs are R Jones, Michel, and Perine so I think he may bite, Is that too much? Waivers are really thin so I’d probably backfill with a RB like ty’son or Freeman. Thanks
