RosterWatch Week 3 Matchup Tool Now Available
Welcome back.
This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.
It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.
DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.
The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only traditional “fantasy points against” metrics (schedule-adjusted after 3 weeks of play), but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2022 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow/pace, sportsbook indicators, volume of total projected snaps and much, much, more.
…
INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.
Let’s say you roster Raiders RB Josh Jacobs and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.
First, look down the list and find the Raiders (Jacobs’ team). You will see that the Raiders’ opponent (OPP) is the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”
These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the STEELERS’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.
They are not the rankings for the RAIDERS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the THE STEELERS). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Raiders, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means that Jacobs faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 3 (the Steelers). This is a great indicator for fantasy managers of Jacobs. It is also a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.
Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to break ties regarding which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.
With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: Vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift, or as injuries to key defensive personnel occur.
1 is the best (easiest) matchup, 32 is the worst (toughest).

Rankings for wr rb and te are not populating for me. Not sure if it’s on my end or not.
Nope not just you … sometimes it takes awhile.
Typically Tuesday evening is the latest. I generally cross reference rankings with the waiver sheet if I’m struggling with a drop candidate.
Dude I 100% understand what you mean …
Hopefully the RW guys are okay? Seems they have been M.I.A. …
12 team PPR Superflex; (1-1)
[1] QB: J. Allen (D. Jones)
[2] RB: Pollard, Pierce (M. Sanders, Kamara, R. Johnson, Spears, K. Miller)
[2] WR: G. Wilson, M. Williams (M. Thomas, Z. Flowers)
[1] TE: LaPorta
[1] W/R/T: P. Nacua
[1] Q/W/R/T: D. Watson
[1] IR: K. Murray
Bench total: (8)
1) Is Spears still a hold or should I drop him or anyone else for Reed or Dell? (can’t believe they made it through waivers)
2) I’m thinking I should maybe consolidate some RB depth to make an upgrade at WR since Garret Wilson worries me … also I it would clear a spot for a WR FA pickup above, so any ideas for some WR buys and who are my best assets to package away? Maybe package Wilson and Sanders but not sure what a realistic return should be?
Welp Tank Dell finally got picked up so I guess now it’s a matter of trying to free up a spot for Jayden Reed? Nevermind I guess ? If you guys wanna help me still get ideas for a consolidation trade that would be nice but not sure I can even pull off a trade in time now anyway …
1) I want to HOLD on Spears, but you’re loaded to the gills – I’m just not positive at this stage Dell/Reed is a big upgrade at WR for dependency purposes. I always want a SLEW of RBs – your WRs are gucci for now!
2) Yes, if you can move off of a guy and upgrade, that would be idea! Can you try Mike Williams + Pierce for a Michael Pittman/Lamb/ARSB type
Word appreciate the help Cody! You the man mang!
Do you think Anthony Richardson will play this week?
If not, should I drop Sam laporta for Kirk cousins?
Should I pull trigger now or wait and see
My other TE is Pitts
Not depending on it, we should know today with Friday’s practice – Nothing yesterday would tell us he is IN.
I would cut bait on Pitts and get Cousins, personally – but you spent capital on Pitts so I understand your preference in cutting LaPorta – I just wouldn’t do that.
10 team full PPR.
My Kyren for Ken Walker.
Smash or Pass..
Ken Walker, welcome to the squad!
Dynasty 12 Team PPR (Contending)
WR: AJB, G. Wilson, Pittman, London, Dotson, Burks, Doubs, M. Wilson
RB: Etienne, Walker, White, J. Cook, Kyren, Pacheco, Roschon, McLaughlin
Give: White, G. Wilson
Get: Pickens, JSN
I think I’d take Pickens White, but not sure how to view JSN for Wilson.
Yessir! Answered on the other post as well
Kyren Williams or Rachaad White this week for PPR?
Kyren “The Receptionist” Williams
Daniel Jones or Russell Wilson
Too late for this one, unfortunately – I would have leaned Russ due to the matchup.
More trade talk. 10-team .5 PPR keeper (2 keepers per season) | 1qb, 2wr, 2rb, 1te, 1w/r/t.
Send Waddle (K) and Ken Walker
Receive Ekeler (K)
I’ll eat the early bye since I’m 2-0 and hope for a healthy ROS. Starting WRs for the other team are AJ Brown, Aiyuk and Pittman in the Flex.
My RBs: Jacobs, Gibbs, Sanders, Kamara, Gainwell, Ford
My WRs: Lamb, Olave, Nacua
I would PASS on this trade. Keep Ken and Waddle 100%
