Dynasty Rankings Update: 7/17/24

Mike Gesicki, Bengals
Age: 29
Movement: Rising
Previous Rank: unranked
Updated Rank: 249
Gesicki hasn’t been used effectively his last two seasons, on Mike McDaniels’ Dolphins and the Patriots, but he has a new lease on life in Cincinnati, where he’s being projected to play a big slot role. This makes sense, as the absence of Tyler Boyd over the middle will be otherwise felt. He ran 60% of his routes out of the slot in Miami, before McDaniels got there, and those were both 700+ yard seasons.

Kyle Pitts, Falcons
Age: 24
Movement: Rising
Previous Rank: 57
Updated Rank: 53
We’ve been waiting for a monster season from Pitts, and there’s been a confluence of events that have transpired to give me the indication that he’s going to have it. First, there’s Kirk Cousins coming to Atlanta, reigniting the Falcons passing game. Then there’s the Falcons intending on using Pitts at the TE and WR positions, which doesn’t come as a surprise considering Atlanta’s lack of stellar receiving options. Lastly and maybe most importantly, new OC Zac Robinson plans on using Pitts as a blocker more often, which seems counterintuitive to him catching the ball, but it would keep him on the field for more plays.

JK Dobbins, Ravens
Age: 26
Movement: Falling
Previous Rank: 72
Updated Rank: 110
Dobbins swears he’s “100 percent” healed from his achilles tear, which often takes more than a calendar year to heal completely from. While he’s been working his way back, Gus Edwards has laid claim to the lead in the Chargers backfield, leaving Dobbins to fight for the no.2 spot. Rookie Kimani Vidal may be 3rd in line right now, but he could very well compete with Dobbins for the backup role in LA. Vidal doesn’t have two major injuries in the last few years to bog him down like Dobbins does, as Dobbins is not far removed from an ACL tear in addition to his achilles injury.

I know it’s early but our draft order was just announced and I have a quick question. I got the 6th position in a 10 man 0.5ppr 2 keeper league. My question is team A or team B.
    A. 1.06, Breece, Garrett Wilson, 12.05
    B. 1.06, 2.05, Garrett Wilson, Devon Achane

My initial thought is it’s insane to consider NOT keeping Achane at 12.05, but if I keep Breece at 2.05 instead, I would basically have 3 first round picks heading into the 3.06 AND not have to worry about the will he or won’t he questions surrounding Achane. Wilson is an automatic keep at 9.06.

Am I overthinking this and should I just keep Wilson and Achane and take BPA at 1 and 2?

Thanks in advance for everything, you guys rock

  2. I like the way you are thinking, and think it’s probably right, but having two jets as my frontline guys feels a little bit scary, too. The Achane deal is really tempting, but as of right now, I’m leaning the same way as you but as you’ve said it is really close. Let’s see if anything changes between now and the time you have to announce your keepers.
