Trashman’s Fantasy Fallout Going Into Week 7 of the 2024 NFL Season

We blinked and it’s Week 7. There’s still a ton of variance from week to week, but at least we’re getting some decent options to replace the numerous injured players languishing on our benches. This is the fallout going into Week 7…

 

 49ers – 36 @ Seahawks – 24

• Isaac Guerendo(10/99) saw the most touches of his short career, as Jordan Mason was in and out of the game with an AC joint sprain. Mason is day to day and may not suit up this week, making Guerendo a speculative start versus KC’s top ranked run defense.

 

• Tyler Lockett(4/65/1) had his best fantasy day of the season on Thursday, finding the endzone for the first time. Lockett has been a frustrating play this year, as he’s been mired in no man’s land between DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith Njigba. Still, he’s readily available in almost 50% of leagues and makes for a PPR flex on most weeks. 

 

• Noah Fant(6/60) has bookended his last 4 games with 60+ yard performances, but it’s too hard to tell when he’s going to produce with 3 better options ahead of him for targets. What’s really sad about this situation is that he’s still a better streaming option than most TEs.  

 

Jaguars – 16 @ Bears – 35

• Travis Etienne left early with a hamstring injury, leaving Tank Bigsby(7/24) and D’Ernest Johnson(8/44) to split carries. Bigsby is the bruiser, as his name indicates, but Johnson is the preferred passing down back, touching the ball once more than Bigsby on the day(8-7). Both would be in play against the woeful Patriots if Etienne can’t go this week. 

 

• Gabe Davis(5/45/2) had a multi-score game, but he could have had 2 more. Davis dropped 2 potential scores in addition to the 2 he caught, displaying in a microcosm the problem Davis in general. Inconsistent to a fault, Davis is a headache in fantasy and one I’ll continue to avoid, this performance withstanding. 

 

• No longer in a TE committee with Gerald Everett, Cole Kmet(5/70/2) is turning in performances we can get behind in fantasy. He’s still available in almost 30% of leagues, so grab him and start him if you are in one of them.

 

• Keenan Allen(5/41/2) finally had a fantasy game worth remembering in 2024, after getting off to an injury mired, slow start. The downside of having one of the best WR corps in the league is that it’s going to be hard to tell which player is going to pop on a given week. That being said, Allen should be in york lineups coming out of the WK7 bye. He’s still available in 25% of leagues.

 

Colts – 20 @ Titans – 17

• Tyler Goodson(12/65) was much more dynamic than Trey Sermon(18/29). Who looked like he was running in quicksand all day. If Jonathan Taylor continues to miss time this week, Goodson makes for a better play in PPR formats than the unimpressive Sermon. 

 

• Josh Downs(7/66/1) is Joe Flacco’s favorite WR, and though Flacco might not be under center in WK7, Downs should still be owned in most leagues. Currently, he’s owned in less than half. 

 

• Will Levis(16/95/1/1) continued his streak of games throwing at least one INT to 5 on Sunday, and it wouldn’t be a shock if Mason Rudolph takes the reins going into WK7. In that case, it would be prudent to hold onto the likes of Calvin Ridley(0/0 on 8 targets) and DeAndre Hopkins(4/54), to see if he can keep them relevant in fantasy. 

 

Buccaneers – 51 @ Saints – 27

• Sean Tucker(17/192/2) had a game for the ages, running wild in a second half blowout of the Saints. He’s still 3rd on the depth chart, but if Rachaad White sits again this week, Tucker would be in line for significant touches against a stout Ravens front, along with Bucky Irving(16/105/1), who just happened to have a less amazing game than Tucker. 

 

• Spencer Rattler(22/243/1/2) looked every bit the rookie he is on Sunday, throwing 2 picks and failing to notice wide open receivers with regularity. Jake Haener could take over this week, but in either case you want to queue up the Broncos defense where you can get them. 

 

• Shrine Bowler Bub Means(5/45/1) garnered 8 targets on Sunday, the most of any WR on the team, with Chris Olave exiting the game with a concussion. On a short week, Means could offer some PPR juice if Olave can’t make it back in time. 

 

Texans – 41 @ Patriots – 21

• Tank Dell(7/57/1) had his first TD on the season, in the absence of Nico Collins(IR). With Collins gone at least 3 more games, both Dell and Dalton Schultz(4/27, 8 targets) are in play. 

 

• Dameon Pierce(8/76/1) looked good in his first game coming off a hamstring injury he sustained in WK1, but his touches will likely be few and far between with Joe Mixon(15/132/2) healthy as well. He’ll likely need a Mixon injury to regain fantasy consideration. 

 

• Drake Maye(20/243/3/2) had an uneven first start, throwing a couple INTs in addition to the 3 TDs he managed, in a game where the Pats trailed from start to finish. It was encouraging to see some decent stat lines for NE WRs for a change though, and he could actually produce against a pitiful Jaguars defense in WK7. 

 

• DeMario Douglas(6/92/1), Kayshon Boutte(3/59/1) and Hunter Henry(3/41/1) all found the endzone in WK6, as the Pats played behind all game. They are all in play in deep PPR formats against the Jags this week. 

 

Cardinals – 13 @ Packers – 34 

• Marvin Harrison left the game early with a concussion, leaving Michael Wilson(2/21/1) as the no.1 WR, though 4 players had more targets on the day. Trey McBride(8/96) is the team’s de facto no.1 receiver if Harrison misses time. 

 

• Emari Demarcado(9/46) led the Cardinals RBs in snaps and had the best day of the lot in a blowout to the Packers. The game script had a lot to do with his usage though, and he’s not an advised play against the Chargers this week. Trey Benson(5/26) is still the direct backup to James Conners(11/46). 

 

• Dontayvion Wicks is week to week with a shoulder injury, which is just as well, as he’s the 4th WR in the pecking order now that everyone is healthy. 

 

• Christian Watson(3/68/1) has scored in half the games he’s appeared in this season and makes for a strong play when he’s healthy. Keep using him until the wheels inevitably fall off again. He’s available in 60% of leagues. 

 

• Romeo Doubs(3/49/2) stays relevant through his redzone usage, as he’s arguably the team’s top target in that area. Available in 65% of leagues, he’s worth picking up in most of them. 

 

Commanders – 23 @ Ravens – 30

• Noah Brown(4/58) led the Commanders in targets(8), though it didn’t amount to much. It seems like the WRs behind Terry McLaurin(6/53/2) play musical chairs every week to see who comes in 2nd, and that’s a testament to the efficiency of Jayden Daniels. They’re all technically in play against the burnable Panthers defense this week, though Zach Ertz is probably the only other pass-catcher than McLaurin that I’d play in my fantasy leagues, and that’s only because he’s a TE.

 

• Brian Robinson sat this one out, leaving Austin Ekeler(13/68) to lead the Commanders backfield. It seemed like Robinson was close to playing, but if he does happen to sit again this week, Ekeler will have an easier go of it against Carolina. 

 

• Rashod Bateman(4/71) is on a run of sorts, scoring or going over 70 yards in 3 of his last 4 games. He’s in play for a breakout in what could be a shootout with the Bucs this week. 

 

• Mark Andrews(3/66/1) finally scored this week. He only had 4 targets on the day though, and he’ll remain mainly a blocker as long as the offense runs through Derrick Henry(24/132/2).

 

Steelers – 32 @ Raiders – 13

• The Steelers did it all through the ground game on Sunday, with Najee Harris(16/122/1) and Justin Fields(11/59/2 rushing) contributing all the offensive scoring through runs. Fields will probably hold off Russell Wilson at least one more week with this performance, but the passing game remains an afterthought and will likely continue to this week against an Jets elite secondary. 

 

• Alexander Mattison(19/65/1) and Brock Bowers(9/71) were the only effective aspects of the Raiders offense on Sunday in a bad loss to Pittsburgh. Aidan O’Connell(27/227/1/1) wasn’t bad, but he didn’t press the issue on offense. He has a better shot to produce this week against a lackluster Rams defense. Mattison is still available in about half of leagues and is still an option even if Zamir White(groin) is active.

 

Chargers – 23 @ Broncos – 16

• Kimani Vidal(6/51/1) found the endzone on a wheel route, but he clearly played second fiddle to JK Dobbins in the Chargers backfield. The good news is that he’s playing ahead of Hassan Haskins(⅖), and Vidal should continue to see more touches with Gus Edwards on IR. 

 

• Devaughn Vele(4/78) and Troy Franklin(2/31/1) were both in the mix, along with Courtland Sutton(4/53/1). It was Vele’s first game active since WK1, when he caught all 8 of his targets. I’m not sure why he hasn’t been playing, but Vele has been productive in both starts and should get more looks going forward. 

 

• Audric Estime(2/13) averaged 6.5 YPC over his 2 touches on Sunday, as he was eased into action. Easily the most explosive runner on Sunday for the Broncos, Estime could end up moving to the top of the depth chart quickly. He’s a stash. 

 

Lions – 47 @ Cowboys – 9

• Kalif Raymond(4/73) led all Lions in targets(6) on Sunday, but then almost every Lions pass-catcher got in on the action in a blowout win over Dallas. Raymond is still 4th at best in the depth chart. 

 

• Sam LaPorta(1/52) made the most of his lone target on Sunday, but it’s still alarming that he got only 1 target in this game. It might be a good time to sell high on LaPorta to someone who just looks at fantasy output. 

 

• KaVontae Turpin(4/24) had the 2nd most targets(7) for the Cowboys on Sunday, with Brandin Cooks out on IR. He’s still 4th in the pecking order, but Turpin offers some deep league PPR value while Cooks is out. 

 

Falcons – 38 @ Panthers – 20

• Last week, I said Tyler Allgeier(19/108/1) was a good play in WK6 due to his usage and the matchup, and boy did he pay off. Keep him around if you need RB help this week, as his touches should still hover around the double-digits against Seattle. 

 

• Ja’Tavion Sanders(5/49) came in 2nd in targets(7) to Diontae Johnson(6/78/1, 10 targets). His targets have increased in every game over the last 3 weeks, so he’s worth a look if you need a streamer in WK7. 

 

• Jonathon Brooks’ 21-day practice window is opening this week, so, if you’re a winning team, offer some lowball trades for him where you can. Chuba Hubbard has been doing work in his absence, but the Panthers need all the offensive help they can get. Also, there’s a good chance that Miles Sanders finds another home before the trade deadline. 

 

Bengals  – 17 @ Giants – 7

• Chase Brown(12/64/1) took over in the Bengal’s backfield, when Zack Moss(7/15) lost a fumble in the 3rd quarter. Brown ended up fumbling himself at one point, but the performance should boost his touches moving forward. 

 

• Tyrone Tracy(23/107/1) wasn’t particularly impressive on the ground, but his involvement in the passing game kept him afloat in fantasy. His lines over the past 2 weeks should keep him involved even when Devin Singletary returns. 

 

• Darius Slayton(6/57) led the Giants in receiving once again, but his time to shine may be over soon, as Malik Nabers(concussion) is bound to return to the lineup in WK7. If for some reason he doesn’t, Slayton is worth another streamer against the Eagles bad secondary.
