Cowboys WR Andre Holmes Steps Out of the Shadows
Can Holmes solve the Mystery of the NO.3 Receiver in Big D?
Dorian “The Trashman” Colbert, Rosterwatch.com
Cowboys owner, GM, and Supreme Overlord Jerry Jones has been talking up undrafted second year wide-out Andre Holmes for some time now. I’ve been a fan of professional football long enough to know that you have to take anything that erupts from the volcano that is Jones’ mouth with a grain (or pillar) of salt, but perhaps it’s time to take notice of the recent Hillsdale College graduate. Yeah…I’d never heard of that school either, but aside from being the division II school at which Holmes holds the school record for receiving yardage, it is known for being the first American college to prohibit in its charter all discrimination based on race, religion, or sex. You learn something new everyday.
Holmes is a physical specimen at 6’5″ and 223 pounds, up seventeen pounds from last season where he spent the majority of the year developing on the practice squad. He would have been made active late last season if not for an injury to his hamstring. A potential vertical threat, Holmes would meld nicely with receivers 1A and 1B Dez Bryant and Miles Austin as the potential number three receiver. If you remember Laurent Robinson from last year’s squad, you’ll know third or fourth option in Dallas can hold more than ample value, even in fantasy. Unfortunately Holmes’ position is all conjecture at this point. He has to battle Dwayne Harris, veteran Kevin Ogletree and currently injured rookie Danny Coale for that third spot eventually, and something tells me that is easier said than done. Still, keep the young man on your fantasy radars. If he sticks, Holmes could be the solution Dallas has been looking for.

Ummm, you also forgot that Jared Veldheer of the Oakland Raiders and one of the leagues top right tackles is also a Hillsdale alum.
