Bernard Pierce With 9 Carries vs. Broncos- Fails to Impress

Bernard Pierce

Bernard Pierce almost went tit-for-tat with Ray Rice for carries in Thursday night’s blowout road loss to the Broncos – 9 to 12. They were alternating frequently. A good sign for Pierce owners, and a bit unsettling for Rice owners. The problem is, Pierce failed to impress. He lacked first-step quickness and looked awfully clunky trying to penetrate the line of scrimmage. Lackluster, sluggish – it’s what we would call the way he looked. Predictably, Pierce was also absent in the passing game. Whereas, Rice has 11 targets in a game of catchup.

Holding Pierce is not a horrible option. There is optimism to be had coming out of this game. When the Ravens play lesser opponents and/or closer games, Pierce will have a crack at some pretty big action. Still, we believe his value is most to the Ray Rice owner in your league. We suggest Pierce owners float some trades in that direction and see if they can make any improvements to their starting lineups. If it doesn’t work out- don’t lose any sleep- Pierce is looking like the RB4/5 you drafted him as.
