Caesars Palace: 2015 Week 1 NFL Lines

Week 1 Lines

These are the opening Week 1 NFL Lines directly from the sportsbook at Caesars Palace. We see some real gems here and have thrown down some early coin on the following contests:

-At first glance, Pittsburgh on the road plus two and half points against Jimmy Garoppolo’s Patriots sounds awfully tempting. The more we think about it, the more we wonder if it’s a sucker bet. Gun to head, first game of the NFL season in prime time, our gut tells us Antonio Brown scores two touchdowns against a Revis-less secondary. We’re taking the Steelers.

-When we tweeted these lines out, Cheese-heads from everywhere started screaming at the top of their lungs the Packers are a lock at Chicago minus five points. Chicago is going to be a tougher minded team under John Fox, but let’s face it – they’ve only beaten the Packers twice since 2010, and every time they’ve lost it’s been by five points or more.

-The Texans still have no idea whether Brian Hoyer or Ryan Mallett will be their starter in Week 1. Kansas City is the much more polished team. We’d pick the Chiefs to win straight up. As an underdog we think it’s easy money.

Indianapolis minus 2.5 at Buffalo, is a mind-boggling line to us. This is literally Andrew Luck versus EJ Manuel or Tyrod Taylor. Need we say more? Oh yeah, Andre Johnson and Frank Gore are now Colts.

Jacksonville is a four-point dog at home against a Carolina Panthers team that finished under .500 last year, and got mopped by the Seahawks to finalize the season. We expect Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley, a Peter Carroll disciple, to take a page out of his mentor’s book and wreak havoc on the worst offensive tackles in the league. Our money is on Jacksonville to cover.

New Orleans has a assembled a drastically improved offensive line this offseason, and by default their defense has to be better. For the Cardinals, Carson Palmer is making a quick return from his second ACL injury. We’re taking the Saints plus two and a half points all day long.

Baltimore finished 2014 as one of the hottest teams in the league. They were serious playoff contenders, losing a barn burner to the eventual Super Bowl champion Patriots 35-31. There’s been a lot of turnover in Denver this offseason. They have a new head coach and offensive coordinator, installing a modified offense. They’ve lost key members of the offensive and defensive lines, as well as skill players like Julius Thomas and Wes Welker. Don’t be shocked if the Ravens win this one outright, we love them as four-point underdogs.

New York vs Dallas is almost always an unpredictable shootout. We get it, the Cowboys were one of the best teams in the league last year. They seemed to have turned the corner as a franchise in 20014, and have improved the defense for 2015. The strength of the team was the offensive line last season, and somehow the Cowboys have made it better. Don’t sleep on the Giants, though. They’ve also improved their offensive line and have re-vamped their defensive secondary. If Dallas is still susceptible on defense it will be their own secondary that costs them. Odell Beckham is going to give that unit nightmares. New York could win this game outright, logic tells us to take the points.

Minnesota is one of our favorite dark horses this year. They are a sneaky candidate to steal the NFC North division crown from the Packers. Right now, we’re taking the over on their 2015 win/loss record. The 49ers are in dissarray. Core players are retiring left and right, they have a new head coach and defensive coordinator, Frank Gore is gone, and nobody has any idea what to expect out of Colin Kaepernick. We’re taking the Vikings as four-point underdogs all day long in this one.
