“Some people watch adult videos on their computer, I go to YouTube and watch Jahvid Best highlight clips. That’s what gets me going.” -Former Lions Head Coach Jim Schwartz, 2010
Well, this year, it’s Odell Beckham Jr. videos that get us going. The way he seamlessley gears down in his cuts. The hands catches he makes way out in front of his body. The explosive plays he creates.
While things haven’t quite reached the fevered-pitch they did last year—when our love for Cordarrelle Patterson boiled to uncharted levels—we can’t turn a blind eye to the names we keep seeing pop up in our scouting notes: DeSean Jackson, Randall Cobb, Antonio Brown, and the aforementioned Cordarrelle Patterson. Factor in Beckham’s monster 10” mitts, bigger than Calvin Johnson’s, and it’s hard not to get excited.
Our QB/WR Session 1 NFL Combine Notes, live from inside the exclusive PFWA viewing suite inside Lucas Oil Stadium, contain remarks such as “Hands like a vacuum”, and “Electric on the quick slant”. His performance in explosive drills was exceptional.
We know an incredible prospect when we see one. Barring some type of unknown knucklehead factor- Odell Beckham Jr. will translate to an elite NFL WR2, with upside to become a quasi-number-one in a wide receiver by committee situation. He has the chance to be dangerous quickly, and should be a priority in all Dynasty Leagues.
Follow us on our Pro Day Tour, all the way to our final stop in Baton Rouge where we’ll be giving live updates on all of the former Tigers Pro Day workouts. We’ll certainly have a close eye on Beckham.
