Arizona Cardinals

Fortunately for most Cardinals skill players, there aren’t many rookies breathing down their necks for playing time. RB Andre Ellington shouldn’t be pushed by Tim Cornett, and there’s plenty of room in Arians’ aerial attack for speedster WR John Brown. That isn’t the case for the tight end position though, as Troy Niklas should get playing time immediately over Rob Housler and John Carlson. Tight ends never factor much into Arians’ plans though, so I don’t know that any Cardinal tight end is worth rostering. QB Logan Thomas is still a work in progress and may continue to be one for the duration of his NFL career if he doesn’t move to tight end.

San Francisco 49ers

Running back is the only position in San Fran in which we may see a rookie crack the starting lineup this season, in the form of Carlos Hyde. The former Ohio State star joins a 49ers backfield that is crowded but only tenuously so. Frank Gore has the starting job, but this could be the year he finally breaks down, and Kendall Hunter is not a lead back. Marcus Lattimore may never get back to playing shape, and the team hates Lamichael James so there are a lot of variables to consider here. Still the is Gore’s job until he loses it, and he could end up being a nice value pick in FFL leagues this season based on all this uncertainty. Also worth mentioning is that the 49ers drafted a dynamic H-back with real skill with the ball in his hands in Trey Millard.

Seattle Seahawks

The returning Super Bowl champs have no reason to tinker around with a winning formula, so I doubt they’ll do much with their rookies this year. Second-round pick WR Paul Richardson may make an appearance here and there, but his light frame makes it unlikely that he’ll be a consistent player, which is necessary for fantasy purposes. We love Kevin Norwood, but we’re going to need to follow his reps through camp to get a firmer grasp on where he may stand once the 2014 season kicks off. Percy Harvin is the only Seattle receiver worth drafting until we’ve been shown otherwise, and he won’t be effected by Richardson.

St. Louis Rams

The drafting of Tre Mason prompted the Rams to drop Daryl Richardson completely, and makes Isaiah Pead expendable as well. Mason should become the the No. 2 in St. Louis, and he might actually eat into Zac Stacy’s workload, too. This may not be a bad thing for Stacy, though, as he was one of the most over-worked backs in the league last season in a horribly tough and bruising division.
