INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Bears RB Jordan Howard, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Chicago Bears. You will see that the Bears are playing the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5 and there are four color-coded cells in the columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Colts) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS. They are not the rankings for the Bears, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THE GIVEN WEEK (the Colts). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Bears, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Bears RBs face the best possible matchup for opposing RBs. This is a great indicator for owners of Jordan Howard, or for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup. With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2016 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question.

      You should ask Byron who is the Matt Jones game-flow whisperer. Off first cuff in PPR I think Shepard is tempting but please check back for rankings, and Trashman’s flex rankings too.

    I have Cam and Stafford in a 10 team league. Am I crazy for thinking about dropping Stafford for Hoyer or Winston? I’m also playing Jordan Howard and Mike Evans if that makes any difference. I’m leaning Winston just because I won’t have to make a decision about playing Cam until Monday night, unless they announce his status before Sunday morning. In my league, the latest I can grab someone off waivers is 11am on Sunday.

      At that point the matchup is key. i’m not playing winston vs carolina. stafford will be up and down, but i think he’s your best bet.

        Ok, but isn’t Winston’s matchup much better (Car @ 12 vs QB) than Stafford’s (Philly @ 32 vs QB) according to the matchup tool? Even Hoyer’s matchup is better against Det @ 7 vs QB.

    12 man ppr, My QB’s are Stafford/Winston…….I was offered a trade of Bortles and Darkwa (I have R. Jennings currently) for Stafford and any WR. His roster consists of the following;

    Bortles, L. Bell, Forte, Beasley, Diggs, Fitzgerald, Witten, McKinnon, Darkwa, Hurns and J. Charles.

    I see that Bortles has been turn over prone 3/4 games (6 picks I believe)….do I pull the trigger or stand down?

      Murray owner is going to bid between 10-25% if they are smart. Likely 10-15%. We wouldn’t go crazy, if we didnt own Murray but if we could get him for the low end of that spectrum- we’d go for it
