RosterWatch Week 14 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2016 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Bengals TE Tyler Eifert, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Bengals (Eifert’s team). You will see that the Bengals’ opponent (OPP) is the Cleveland Browns in Week 14, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Browns’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the Benglas, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THE GIVEN WEEK (the Browns). In the “OPP vs. TEs” cell for the Bengals, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Bengals TEs face the best possible matchup for opposing TEs in Week 14 in the Browns. This is a great indicator for owners of Eifert, or for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

  1. Yes! finally!

Having a tough time with this one even with the matchup tool. It’s the playoffs so obviously I’m going to switch back and forth. I need input.

Standard league, Pick 2 WRs: Diggs, Mitchell, Boyd, Sheppard

  2. With MacLin back would you still start hill over Inman or R Matthews?

    1. no, his floor is too low

  3. Start 3 1 pt ppr

    Allen Robinson vs min
    Jarvis Landry vs ariz
    B Marshall @ SF
    T Boyd @ Cle
    Malcom Mitchell vs Bal

Could also flex in Ladarius Green if J reed plays

Thanks guy!! It’s playoff time and all my teams are in!

    1. landry, mitchell, a rob

  4. I am currently rostering Stafford, Cam, and Mariota, I want to drop one of these guys to pick up a second defense for the playoffs. Which one would you drop? I have the Lions defense now, but I am gonna try to drop them for the Bengals tomorrow. Whichever QB I drop, I will pick up the Steelers D in that spot.

    1. i could drop mariota based on the schedule

      1. Thanks, that’s the way I was leaning, just wanted confirmation.

  5. Standard scoring, really want to start M Mitchell in my flex this week. I need 3 out of these:
    Cooper @ KC
    Baldwin @ GB
    TyWill @ Car
    MM vs Bal
    Moncrief vs Hou
    Watkins vs Pit

I think I should sit Moncrief and Watkins, and growing concerned over lack of targets for Cooper (vs Crabtree) and Tyrell.

Should Mitchell be in my line-up? If so, sit Tyrell/Baldwin/ or Cooper?

    1. wow, i like them all except moncrief. i’d go cooper, baldwin and mitchell. i’m afraid williams won’t be 100%

  6. Need some help… currently have Wilson and Mariota for qbs. Debating on dropping Mariota for Winston considering schedules.

    12 team Standard scoring

Also need 2 Wr out of Fitz, Cooks, J Matthews, Moncreif, M Mitchell
Rolling with Bell, Ware, and Forte at RB and flex

Lost AJ Green but still stashing…. should I cut bait and run?? Also picked up AP as a stash and now it’s looking less likely he will play

Thinking I should pick up D. Williams as handcuff… who should I drop??

Went on a 7 game run to go from last place to 4th place!!! Looking to finish strong

    1. i’m not against it. makes the most sense if you plan on actually playing him over wilson. i’d go fitz and cooks. i’d drop ap before green. good luck!

  7. RosterWatch! Love the content, great work!! Better RB2 Riddick or Crowell?? Thansk

    1. It is a PPR..

  8. Half point PPR need to pick three out of these 5 WRs — Nor sure I should blindly follow match-up tool
I am thinking I should try and fit Landry in to establish a decent floor for scoring points — Adams could come up empty even though he is highest in your rankings. Thoughts please.

    J Crowder (1)
    B Lefell (6)
    K benjamin (12)
    D Adams (29)
    J Landry (30)

    1. rankings far from final at this time but my initial lean is Crowder, Kelvin for sure and in a PPR probably Landry but easy cases could be made for LaFell – Hell I’m sure Trashman would tell you to start him – or Davante.

  9. Thanks to RW – playoffs at 8-5! But now play high-points winner. Need to pick top 2 players for full PPR maximum potential – T. Pryor, Watkins, Lamar Miller, or Riddick? #fantasyproblems Thanks for all your help this year, Trashman too!

    1. At this time I say Pryor and Theo in a PPR but please continue to check back coming into game time.

  10. Alright my dude, thanks a lot for this year, I’m stuck on who to start, please help, thanks!

    Qb- Big Ben/Rivers (pick one)
Rb- Ware Rawls Gordon Girley Howard (pick 2)
Wr- M thomas Ty Williams D Adams (pick one)
Flex- pick one wr/rb left out from above

Once again, thank you so much, good luck this weekend as well.

  11. New pro member here, love how stat-driven your advice is! So I thought about a DFS stack of Dalton/Eifert/Boyd based on matchup tool/rankings..but you have Cam SO much higher with a signficantly worse matchup..any follow-up advice is appreciated, thx!!

  12. PPR league: Start Crowder or M.Mitchell this week in the Flex? Crowder is ahead of Mitchell in the rankings, but you all keep raving about Mitchell this week. My other WRs are OBJ, Amari, and C. Coleman. Thanks for all the help!

  13. Pick 2 for flex spots:

Davante Adams, Diggs, M.Mitchell, Dixon, Hightower

  14. I’m probably over thinking this but do I play Jordy against Seattle or go with Tyreek Hill

    1. Gotta stick with Nelson

  15. Post By Silver Fang Big Wolf

Whats up Mr. Dunlap! I am going crazy over here trying to decide a DST this week. My choices are Eagles or Colts. Or I could drop one of them for the Panthers on waivers. What are y’alls thoughts on these teams this week?

  16. Noticed the recent up tick to Cams ranking.

Would you start him or Jameis in round 1 of the playoffs?

  17. Need 2 out of these guys .5 PPR
    Gurley
    B. Marshall
    Devontae Booker
    LaFell

  18. Who to drop for Marvin jones?

    C Mike , Britt, Hightower , fuller?

    Standard league

  19. Ended up starting cooper and ware in a half point ppr so now I’m playing catch up.
Going against a hot team so 10 point performances won’t help.
    I need a rb and a flex
    M.thomas, Watkins, Freeman, d.martin, hightower, t.coleman, davante Adam’s.
Going against ingram if that matters
    Thanks guys

    1. freeman and watkins

  20. Ok RW, which one of these three for a PPR flex spot:

Chris Hogan, Ty Montgomery, Wendell Smallwood, Robert Woods

      1. Yup thanks

  21. Week 14 (aka week of tragic match ups). PPR, bonus for long TDs

    Need 1 RB, 2WR and 1flex

Blount, Lewis, Crowell and Tate, Moncrief, Mitchell, Snead, Marshall. Also Inman and Garçon available on waivers.

Lately been playing Blount, Tate, Moncrief and Marshall but Bal run D this week and Bryce Petty scare me. Thanks guys!

    1. blount, tate, mitchell, moncrief

      1. Thanks Trashman. Keep up the good work.

  22. First round of playoffs. Standard. need RB, flex and WR2 out of these guys. Cooks, T Williams, A robinson, B marshal, Jordan howard, forte, hightower.
I have david Johnson and mike evans as shoe ins. Thanks for help

    1. Howard, Forte, cooks

  23. Ryan or Palmer at Qb? Blount or Miller at RB2? Adams, Reed, Hightower, T. Coleman, or the RB not chosen as a flex? Thx in advance.
