Tuesday Supper

Tuesday Supper
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com

Tuesday Night Supper is where we take all the juicy morsels from week 5 and we ship them right down the old alimentary canal. First you pick the morsels out. Next you chew them all up. Then you digest them. We know what happens from there…….

– Regardless of their real football fortunes, fantasy football players from the Eagles are producing at a very high level with only more upside insight. Do not be fooled by the team’s poor start.

– Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Buffalo WR are a little spotty. You do not want to have to be overly reliant on them. Fred Jackson is a much different story. He looks unbelievable and has been incredibly consistent. The Bills are good and the offensive line is playing well. Jackson is a top 5 RB moving forward, possibly a top 3. If you drafted him, congratulations.

– The Chiefs offense looks to be getting back on track, however, I wouldn’t overvalue the performance against a sorry IND team. Dwayne Bowe is the man and continues to have “must start” status. He is the only one though. Jackie Battle should be picked up immediately. He could really provide your team a mid season spark if week 5 was not a fluke. Steve Breaston is worth a look-see if you are in a WR bind. Dexter McCluster is very drop-able with a bye this week.

– Curtis Painter should be owned and could become a very viable fantasy QB options. All IND skill players will benefit but keep your expectations realistic. So far Pierre Garcon looks tremendous and needs to be started on most teams.

– Kevin Kolb looks pretty crappy. Looks like another tough year for Fitzgerald owners but I believe he will still be deceptively productive. Trade for him if you can. Beanie Wells looks great but his production is very reliant upon Kolb. Early Doucet showed a fantasy WR flash and is worth keeping an eye on.

– Adrian Peterson is Adrian Peterson. McNabb sucks. Devin Aromashodu looks like a deep deep sleeper who could possibly re-emerge in a fashion semi-similar to 2009 in CHI.

–  I don’t care what OC Kevin Gilbride says, WR Victor Cruz is playing so well he has to leapfrog Manningham. Grab him if you can.

– Marshawn Lynch is on the upswing. I liked him moderately preseason and he is coming through. He looks solid with some upside. I would consider trading for him if I needed a RB. There may be Lynch owners who don’t buy him and think they are selling “high”. If you can do the deal for something reasonable I would do it.

–  I am still concerned about Chris Johnson. He had decent fantasy production in Week 5. On the surface it looks great but the TD was a cheap one and his yards were still scarce. Matt Hasslebeck threw it 50 time and continues to provide solid fantasy production. He is a good QB option.

– Steeler’s run game is still suspect. Antonio Brown is a tease and you can drop him if you need the roster spot.

– Pierre Thomas is undervalued and Mark Ingram is overvalued. Both are still decent options though in a prolific Saint offense. I like Sproles the best.

– DeAngelo Williams finally got his big run and TD. Don’t read too much in to it. Most of his production was from that one play. It was a direct result of Newton getting the attention on a well executed play. Jonathan Stewart did nothing and Cam Newton is the goal line back. Carolina is a passing offense.

–  AJ Green and Jermaine Gresham are solid fantasy options every week moving forward.

– The OAK offensive line was manhandled for the first time the season by a more physical def. front from HOU. They just could not spring DMAC. That said he still managed to pop off a big electric run that was called back on a very marginal holding call. That was the difference in another double digit points performance. Darrius Heyward-Bey has strung together two good weeks in a row with A LOT of targets. Ford and Moore are pretty small WRs so it makes sense DHB would be utilized as the possession receiver.

– Joel Driessen in HOU is looking good as Schaub relies on more unconventional options with AJ out. The offense is still putting up numbers.

– With Blount going down. Earnest Graham is worth a pick up. The Bucs tendency to get behind early is really hurting the consistency of their run game. Keep an eye on Arrelius Benn, I like him.

– I hate Alex Smith but I can’t lie, he is looking good. All 49ers fantasy options on the rise big time. Niners look good.

– You might try to trade for VJax after an underwhelming game. You might also shoot for Ryan Mathews who is injured and has a bye coming up. Philip Rivers should continue to heat up.

– Tim Tebow time. I will be writing more on this tomorrow.

– Shonn Greene owners have to feel a little better after a really nice performance. It may be a good time to package him as part of a trade. The PATS are poor on run D and Greene has had ample time to prove he can be consistent. I would ship him out. Be a little worried about Dustin Keller’s lack of production. Really starting to remind me of last year.

– Jermichael Finley has been a little disappointing so far.  He’s had 1 monster against the Bears Cover 2 def which is notoriously weak vs. TE’s. Other than he has average about 6 fantasy points/game. You might toss a trade offer out for him as he still has a lot of upside.

– I continue to believe Matt Ryan is overrated.

– Matt Forte is a top 8 RB an continues to look great.

– Be really happy if you own Brandon Pettigrew. I loved him preseason and he is really starting to show up.
