PRO 2017 WR/CB Individual Projected Matchup Strength-Of-Schedule (Top 50 ADP)

This tool is useful for identifying what receivers may benefit the most from facing the worst cornerbacks in projected individual matchups (as opposed to the unit matchups highlighted in the other tools) and who may have trouble with a schedule featuring more talented corners in coverage. The individual matchup projections are made based on information about where certain receivers usually line up (outside vs. slot, etc.) and the star-coverage or “shadow” tendencies of the best opposing corners’ defensive schemes. Projecting these matchups so far out is an inexact science to say the least, so the data should be used more as food for thought than an absolute predictor. We put much more stock in our time-proven unit rankings in applications like the epic RosterWatch Matchup Tool than in projected individual matchup rankings. You can find our season-long unit-ranking strength-of-schedule rankings here:

RBs
WRs
QBs
TEs

With this said, those with excellent or horrible-looking schedules in the shared spreadsheet are players you’ll want to take note of and keep in the back of your mind when thinking about how you’ll attack your fantasy draft. Also remember, since slot corners (outside of guys like Jimmie Ward and sometimes Chris Harris Jr., etc.) are usually less talented than star outside corners, you’ll notice that slot receivers generally rank a little higher in this tool than outside wide receivers.

AS ALWAYS, THIS IS A SUPPLEMENTARY TOOL AND NOT MEANT IN ANY WAY TO REPLACE THE DIRECTIONS OF THE CHEAT SHEET. ALWAYS CONSULT THE CHEAT SHEET FOR ALL FANTASY DRAFT DECISIONS AS THIS INFO, ALONG WITH MUCH, MUCH MORE, IS ALREADY BAKED IN.

  1. I’m in a reality sports online league and have the most cap space for this years auction. I need help at RB in a bad way. I currently roster Bilal Powell, and Ryan Mathews. I get the second pick in the rookie draft and will have the most leverage for bidding the RB’s available. I am a big Vikings fan and don’t want the homer in me to blind me. Would I be crazy to pick Cook over McCaffrey and Mixon? and for the auction portion of the draft, I have enough money to bid up two guys from the following. Marshawn, Crowell, Montgomery, Tevin Coleman, Spencer Ware, Mike Gillislee, Paul Perkins, LeGarrette Blount, Frank Gore, Terrance West, Alfred Morris. who should i push for?

    1. I should probably know better, but I’ve never played in a Reality Sports Online League. IS that a mix of a rookie draft and a veteran auction? I guess I’m having trouble following the question.

      1. Yeah, we have it set up for two rounds of rookie draft. We get to keep them for the standard three year contract. The earlier you pick the more expensive their salary. After that, the auction draft is the remaining veterans that no longer have a contract and will not receive a franchise tag.

        1. are the veteran RBs you’ll be bidding on have 3yr contracts as well? As for the rookie draft, I’d take Mixon. The Trashman would give his stamp of approval to take Dalvin, and I could see his argument but I’m taking Mixon.

I will have (1) 4 year contract, (2) 3 year contracts, (3) 3 year contracts, (4) 2 year contracts, and as many 1 years as I want. The 1 year contracts are the most expensive and gradually get cheaper, the longer the contract duration. But then you are making a significant commitment on a position that is constantly in flux. Not really looking to lock up any of these guys long term unless you convince me otherwise. The one year contracts are nice on the back end, because you have 100% of that cap space available for the next seasons auction.

          2. If that’s the case, I’d prioritize Marshawn, Crowell and Tevin.

  2. league is PPR.

  3. Alex, Byron, and The Trashman,

Team name – RedAlert (from a video game character I created 25 years ago and I have red hair)

League name – The Council of Elders

I have been a loyal listener on Sirius for the last 2 years, but I just joined The Nation with a pro subscription.

My league scoring is unique and I wonder what bearing you all think that has on the .5 PPR cheat sheet I want to use. Here is the basic scoring:

10 team, 9 of which are sharks
    .5 PPR
1 pt every 7 yards receiving, 6 pt rcv TD
1 pt every 30 yards passing, 4 pt pas TD
1 pt every 10 yards rushing, 6 pt rsh TD
    -2 pt int
    -2 pt fumble
    20 in-season moves MAX

Basically the receivers get a boost and the QB’s take a hit versus traditional scoring. A cap on in season moves and a long-standing tradition of minimal trading makes the draft even more critical.

Should I interpret the .5 PPR cheatsheet any differently or who would you all prioritize? The answer could be worth $650 if I win the league for an unprecedented 4th time.

Many thanks for considering this lengthy comment.

    1. With the premium on WR, we’d use the PPR cheat sheet in this league and use as directed. Thank you for supporting RW and for listening to the show.

  4. I have the third pick in a four year dynasty. After year one we keep one, then two in year two, and three in year three. This is the first year draft. It’s three wr, two rb standard. How should my draft board look? David Johnson 1, Brown 2 , beckham or Evans 3? Does this sound right or am I missing someone?
