Trashman’s Fantasy Outlook:
Fields profiles as a functional perimeter receiver whose game is built on size, reliability, and toughness rather than explosive traits. At Notre Dame, he was used primarily as an outside receiver and situational chain mover, finishing catches in traffic, and contributing in a physical offense that did not lean heavily on wide receiver volume.
The production profile reflects that usage. Fields contributed within a balanced, defense-first program where targets were spread and passing volume was inconsistent week to week. He showed the ability to win with positioning and body control, particularly on slants, outs, and back-shoulder throws, but he rarely separated cleanly or dictated coverage. He has an uncanny ability to bring in poorly thrown balls, but his YAC leaves something to be desired.
From a fantasy perspective, Fields projects as a depth receiver whose path to relevance depends almost entirely on landing spot and opportunity. His size and reliability give him a chance to stick on an NFL roster, especially if he contributes on special teams, but his fantasy ceiling is limited without a clearly defined role or expanded target share. In dynasty leagues, he’s best viewed as a late-round rookie flier or watch-list name — a player whose real-life value may exceed his fantasy utility unless circumstances break favorably.
Alex’s Scouting Notes:
- Big-bodied outside receiver who wins more with excellent framing, adjustment, boxing-out and tracking abilities than with vertical separation
- RosterWatch 2026 All-Senior Bowl Roster
- Very dependable snatcher of the football despite shockingly small hands given this great trait in his game at 8 ¾”; flashes them late to win in contested situations
- Obviously appealing catch radius
- Only one drop in 66 targets in final season at Notre Dame
- At Virginia, was able to go for over 800 yards in junior and senior seasons despite playing his junior year alongside future NFL WR Malik Washington; carved out his role and owned it
- Downfield contested catch threat with 25th highest aDOT in CFB during 2025 (16.4 yards)
- Top 25% in CFB among qualifiers in NFL passer rating when targeted and yards/route run during the 2025 season
- Brings very little in the YAC department
- Doesn’t bring dynamism, suddenness or above-average agility in his route-running and can appear stiff getting in and out of breaks
- Lacks functional long-speed to take the top off of defenses as a vertical threat despite the high aDOT
- Concern that his role could relegate him to being an NFL WR3 or WR4 with specialized role and diminished route share
- Comp: Keon Coleman
