2027 NFL Draft Midseason QB Market Update

Entering Week 7 of the College Football season, most teams have played 5 or 6 games, and the season has reached its midpoint. We’ve seen every Quarterback play some, and in some cases at least one “big” game. Today, I’m going to go through all of the Quarterbacks heading into the 2027 NFL Draft at the midpoint of the season, and give them a designation of “Graduate, 1st Round, 2nd Round, or Return to School”. This is in line with the mold of the NFL’s College Advisory Committee, but obviously with a twist.

The NFL’s College Advisory Committee evaluation request deadline will likely be December 12th for underclassmen ahead of the 2027 NFL Draft. What does the College Advisory Committee do?

  • Underclassmen who apply for Review will receive one of three grades: 1st round, 2nd round, or go back to school.
  • Each school can request up to 5 grades from the Advisory Committee.

Underclassmen (Round 1 Potential)

  • CJ Carr, Notre Dame (Independent) — 6-3, 210, RSo — 18 starts, 437 attempts, 174.1 rating
  • Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State (Big 12) — 6-3, 215, RSo — 20 starts, 678 attempts, 166.9 rating
  • Darian Mensah, Miami (ACC) — 6-3, 205, RJr — 32 starts, 920 attempts, 166.1 rating
  • Dante Moore, Oregon (Big Ten) — 6-3, 220, Sr — 24 starts, 732 attempts, 154.3 rating

Underclassmen (Round 2 Potential)

  • Julian Sayin, Ohio State (Big Ten) — 6-1, 214, Jr — 20 starts, 566 attempts, 181.3 rating
  • Jayden Maiava, USC (Big Ten) — 6-4, 225, Sr — 35 starts, 1,149 attempts, 153.1 rating

Underclassmen (Return to School Recommendation)

  • Austin Simmons, Missouri (SEC) — 6-4, 220, Jr — 8 starts, 272 attempts, 158.7 rating
  • Gunner Stockton, Georgia (SEC) — 6-1, 215, Sr — 21 starts, 593 attempts, 158.5 rating
  • Aaron Philo, Florida (SEC) — 6-1, 208, RSo — 7 starts, 251 attempts, 151.3 rating
  • Kenny Minchey, Kentucky (SEC) — 6-2, 211, RJr — 6 starts, 207 attempts, 150.8 rating
  • Arch Manning, Texas (SEC) — 6-4, 226, RJr — 20 starts, 645 attempts, 149.6 rating
  • LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina (SEC) — 6-3, 238, Sr — 30 starts, 783 attempts, 145.7 rating
  • Sam Leavitt, LSU (SEC) — 6-2, 216, RJr — 26 starts, 785 attempts, 143.1 rating
  • Nico Iamaleava, UCLA (Big Ten) — 6-5, 215, Sr — 30 starts, 818 attempts, 135.1 rating

In this situation, the 2027 NFL Draft is likely looking at Oklahoma State’s Drew Mestemaker, Oregon’s Dante Moore, Ole Miss’s Trinidad Chambliss, Notre Dame’s CJ Carr, and Miami’s Darian Mensah as its four 1st-round picks. I do believe we potentially see Arch Manning declare; that one feels like a 25-35% proposition today, and as long as LaNorris Sellers doesn’t catch fire down the stretch, I anticipate him returning in 2027 as well.

Obviously not quite the class many expected if this is the way it falls out, but we could see be getting 4-6 first-round quarterbacks and between 5-8 Top 50 picks at the position if all goes well with guys like Josh Hoover, Julian Sayin, and Jayden Maiava.

Some names I have kept a radar on but have not watched intensely this year and didn’t feel comfortable putting on the list: Aidan Chiles at Northwestern, Lincoln Kienholz at Louisville, and Drake Lindsey at Minnesota.

  1. 0.5 point PPR league. Should I play JK Dobbins on Thursday night or wait and see if Aj Brown comes back, if I do not play Dobbins and AJ does not come back I would have to play one of the following Lloyd, Doubs, or Wicks. Any suggestions?

I’m going to ride with JK Dobbins, not sure they rush AJB back this week. Pats have short week Bears on Thursday – could see Brown fired up for Chicago

  2. .5 Kamara, Harvey or Sampson if no QJ & Sampson plays? I hate Thursday games
