Bold Prediction: Mike Vick Will Be 2013’s Top Fantasy QB
Bold Prediction: Mike Vick Will Be 2013’s Top Fantasy QB
Alex Dunlap, Rosterwatch.com
In a continued attempt to do an awful job at any task he is presented with, the RW Trashman came up with a real whopper on Friday evening.
(Remember when you were a kid and didn’t want to unload the dishwasher? You put everything back in all the wrong places so eventually your mom would stop asking you to do it. That is the Trashman’s life in microcosm.)
After allocating responsibility to the Trashman for this “Bold Predictions” piece from Fantasy Pros, I explained to the filthy freegan that they were asking the most accurate experts for “bold predictions.” So, it’s O.K. go out on one of those trashy limbs of yours- just don’t make us look stupid.
Then he turned in this piece of garbage. Mike Vick as QB1?
Once I read his reasoning, though, it doesn’t seem quite as ridiculous.
“Mike Vick will finish as the top scoring quarterback in fantasy. He is the only quarterback, aside from Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees, that has averaged 20 or more points a game at least half the time, over the past three years. New coach Chip Kelly’s offense is tailor-made for a player with Vick’s skill set, creating the perfect storm for a landmark season.” – Dorian Colbert (Roster Watch)
Only Rodgers and Brees are better in the extremely coveted 20+-point frequency within the scoring distribution ranks. See all of the QBs fared in our three year master study for QBs from the free RW draft guide (free membership required).
Is it ridiculous to think Vick might actually stay healthy for an entire season – flourishing in Chip Kelly’s new fast-paced offense to finish No. 1 overall in 2013? Probably. But the Trashman is ridiculous himself, and stranger things have happened. With a ninth-round ADP, Vick’s emergence as the starter in Philadelphia gives further depth to a 12-13 QB slate of viable fantasy QB1 candidates, and further supports what the legendary free cheat sheet has guided fantasy drafters toward all summer when following the two simple rules.
