RWi The Friday Fantasy Injury Roundup: Week 3
Early Weekend Fantasy Injury Roundup
Alex Dunlap, Rosterwatch.com
Larry Fitzgerald ARI WR Questionable Hamstring
We saw last week that Fitzgerald is useless fantasy-wise in an Arians offense while operating at even 80-90%. He’ll likely play, but monitor morning reports about his walk-through.
Rashard Mendenhall ARI RB Questionable Toe
A toe?! Mendenhall has been battling a knee all year, but a toe is a new animal. He participated in a limited fashion on FRI after riding the bike during WED and THU practices. Arians has said this week that rookie Andre Ellington is capable of carrying a load, and we are a bit worried even though he will likely go.
Steven Jackson ATL RB OUT Hamstring
Jackson’s absence makes Jacquizz Rodgers a reasonable play in PPR and Jason Snelling a deep flier in standard leagues.
Sam Baker ATL LT OUT Foot
A banged up Roddy White, no Steven Jackson and now no starting left tackle against Cameron Wake for Matt Ryan Sunday at MIA. This is a rare week where we may look on the wire for QBs with better matchups than Ryan if he is your starter.
Julio Jones ATL WR Questionable Knee
It’s the same issue he’s been dealing with and he’s been fine physically despite the tough matchup. Play him as you normally would.
Roddy White ATL WR Questionable Ankle
The high ankle sprain has not healed and Roddy White should not have been in fantasy lineups Week 2. The same holds true in Week 3, and until we see he is clearly not hobbled on-field.
Ray Rice BAL RB Doubtful Hip
This looks to be a one-week measure, which is of some consolation to Rice owners. Bernard Pierce automatically assumes a very safe RB2/3 role and should see 15-17 touches at minimum.
Reggie Bush DET RB Questionable Knee
The Detroit media said he looked completely fine and uninhibited in Friday practice, and we expect him to go against a Redskins D that made James Starks look like Walter Payton – we do expect Joique Bell to spell Bush more often than usual, making them both solid RB2 plays.
Eddie Lacy GB RB Questionable Concussion
Looks like Green Bay will keep him on the shelf through Week 3 and the Week 4 bye to bring Lacy back fresh. Make other plans but don’t do something stupid like trade him.
Garrett Graham HOU TE Questionable Hip, Groin
A late entry to the report, deep leaguers thinking of rostering Graham after a 2 TD start should be aware of his designation. Injuries that crop up late in the week are never good.
Maurice Jones-Drew JAC RB Questionable Ankle
MJD’s status has been up in the air all week, and seems to be on a positive uptick, but the matchup with Seattle is horrible. Per the Florida Times-Union: Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew (left ankle) is listed as questionable but the vibe around his availability changed dramatically when he was able to participate in some team drills – specifically red zone plays – during practice. (On Friday)
Danny Amendola NE WR Doubtful Groin
Owners will have him back sooner than thought, but not this week.
Rob Gronkowski NE TE Questionable Back, Arm
All indications are that if Gronkowski does play, his role will not be clearly defined, and would almost definitely be used in a limited capacity.
Le’Veon Bell PIT RB Questionable Foot
A very interesting situation to keep an eye on – Bell has now gone through two full practices, which indicates he could already be physically rounding into playing form. The Steelers would love to ease him back, but need to win now.
Vernon Davis SF TE Questionable Hamstring
Sounds like he’ll be good to go, and we like Davis for a big rebound game along with the rest of the 49ers offense if there are no setbacks. From the Bay Area Media Group: Tight end Vernon Davis hasn’t practiced all week but sounds encouraged that his left hamstring won’t keep him out of Sunday’s game. Davis said he was simply waiting on clearance from team doctors to play. He’s played in the 49ers’ past 99 games, including playoffs. On Friday, he did individual conditioning drills on a side field as practice got underway.
Shonn Greene TEN RB OUT Knee
We hate Shonn Greene.
Leonard Hankerson WAS WR Questionable Hip
Participated in Friday practice per Washington Post and appears to be a go. Could be a sneaky bounce-back spot-start against a shaky GB back end after putting up a Week 2 stinker following a Week 1 explosion.
