Week 10 RosterWatch Touchdown Dependency Tool: RBs
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com
It’s an interesting year. We’ve never seen this many running backs so tightly clustered around the average. For the most part, it appears many players will continue producing at the clip we’ve seen so far.
At this point in the season, our number one tie-breaker between two players of similar ilk is the weekly matchup. Sometimes it’s still pretty close, though. That’s when we default to tools such as touchdown dependency.
The way to interpret this data is- for example- Marshawn Lynch vs LeSean McCoy. Both are great, and both are 14.9 PPG producers. The difference is, McCoy is much less touchdown-dependent. Making him a more reliable weekly play. So far this season, Lynch has had three games equal to or worse than McCoy’s lowest output of the season. In fantasy, we need a competitive team every week. Rostering productive players who are not touchdown-dependent can help us achieve that goal.
