Fantasy Football Quick Hits: What We Learned in Week 10
Quick Hits: Week 10

This past Sunday was an interesting one to say the least. It may have turned as many people away from fantasy football as it did endear them to it. Here are some brief thoughts on the fallout.
– Russell Wilson is proving me right. Last season I wrote a piece on why I liked him more as a fantasy QB than the other 2012 QB studs, Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III, and to this point of the season he has outscored both of them. Go figure.
– Jermaine Kearse might actually prove more valuable than Doug Baldwin over the rest of the season, as he plays the position formerly held by Sindey Rice, whereas Baldwin plays the slot, which Percy Harvin is primed to takeover next week.
– Roddy White didn’t do jack against Seattle, but he did play the majority of snaps, which bodes well for his prospects from here on out.
– Don’t get hyped on Kris Durham’s TD. Nate Burleson is preparing to be back next week.
– Joique Bell had only 4 fewer carries than Reggie Bush this week. He would be an intriguing buy low, as the season continues, and Bush wears down.
– Nick Foles has done it two weeks in a row now. It’s time to start considering him as QB1 material.
– Riley Cooper and Foles have an undeniable connection, but as teams start to give him some of the attention they normally devote to DeSean Jackson, expect his numbers to become erratic. He’s a great sell high.
– Don’t freak out over Jordy Nelson’s performance. He had questionable a TD called back that would have put him in double digits.
– Our second-team doctrine, in which backup skill players benefit when backup QBs play, came into fruition with Packers QB Scott Tolzien and Jarrett Boykin. The second year receiver retains sneaky value as long as Tolzien is under center.
– Keep an eye on TE Brandon Bostick. He’s getting more and more action each week.
– With Jake Locker gone, I actually don’t see that much of a drop-off for Titans receivers. They play the short receiving game, and Fitzpatrick is capable of handling that.
– Shonn Greene had a stinker, but so did Chris Johnson. Greene only had three fewer carries and will be a fantasy asset more often than not.
– MJD had a good game, and the Jags won. Who would have thought? Look for the Jags to keep feeding him the rock. He’s someone to target if you’re desperate at RB.
– The Rams vs. Colts game was straight out of the twilight zone, but one thing I do think will persist is the frequent attempt to get Tavon Austin the ball as much as possible. If he was dropped in your league, he’s worth an add.
– Trent Richardson disappointed again, but what can you expect if you only get a guy 5 carries?
– Andre Brown is about the only thing the Giants have going for them right now, and he’s going to feast for as long as he’s healthy. Feel free to drop all other Giants backs.
– Victor Cruz won’t stay this bad for long. He’s a strong buy low candidate, as the G-men try to put together a late season run.
– Rashad Jennings filled in admirably fro Darren McFadden yesterday. I don’t expect the Raiders to rush Run DMC back for that reason.
– So much for C.J. Spiller’s reemergence. Looks like we’ll have to wait another week to see what we really have on our hands.
– E.J. Manuel doesn’t look like himself, but that is to be expected after missing so much time.
– Jerricho Cotchery is worth an add in most leagues. He’s starting to perform well consistently.
– I have no hope for the Ravens running game this season. That offensive line is too much to overcome.
– The Bengals passing game is too inconsistent to rely on anyone outside of A.J. Green on a weekly basis.
– Cam Newton had lackluster game, but Colin Kaepernick’s was even worse. Expect them both to bounce back.
– If you’re a Michael Floyd owner, a preemptive add of Andre Roberts wouldn’t be a bad idea, while we figure out what his status is for next week.
– 20 carries for Andre Ellington? Not even close, coach Arians.
– Don’t look now, but preseason favorite Rob Housler is beginning to show up for the Cardinals.
– Case Keenum loves Andre Johnson, but he hates his tight ends.
– Peyton Manning had never missed a game prior to of his season-ending injury of last year, so we don’t expect him to be absent next week. It may be a good idea to diversify your assets though, if you own multiple Broncos– especially since they have two games against the Chiefs yet to be played.
– You can add Ronnie Brown if you want, but its not going to help your team.
– The ineptitude of Dallas play-callers baffles me. Get the ball to Dez. Period.
– Marques Colston is starting his second half ascension. Enjoy the ride.
– Mark Ingram is and will continue to be the third option in the Saints running game.
