Buffalo Bills
It’s too early to tell how things will shake out for the Bills receiving corps, but the addition of Sammy Watkins most immediately affects the fantasy value of speedsters Marquise Goodwin and T.J. Graham. Watkins is almost as fast as either and has a bigger body than both. He’ll be used in and outside of the slot. Roberts Woods most likely still has his spot outside, and Mike Williams will be an imminent red-zone threat regardless of his position.
Miami Dolphins
The competition for lead back in Miami just got a bit more complicated now that rookie UDFA Damien Williams is in town. Knowshon Moreno was tentatively expected to get more carries than incumbent back Lamar Miller, but Williams is a more powerful runner than both of them and he has great hands for a back. He’s more than capable of handling the load.
Jarvis Landry spent his college career in relative obscurity as Rueben Randle and then Odell Beckham flourished at LSU. The truth is that Landry is a talented receiver, and he’s going to push slot receiver Brandon Gibson hard. So hard, that is very well within the realm of possibility that Landry takes his job as a rookie.
New England Patriots
We all know the Patriots backfield is a quagmire regardless of who gets added to it. Rookie James White has a shot to get considerable carries over Stevan Ridley should the veteran resume his fumbling ways.
The wideouts in New England are underwhelming, and Michigan’s all-time leading receiver Jeremy Gallon will compete from the get-go. He projects to play out of the slot so Danny Amendola stands to lose some snaps to him.
New York Jets
Though the Jets brought in a number of new players in the draft, only one seems primed to take a starting role and that’s tight end Jace Amaro. He’s a dynamic “move” end who can produce right away. There is no sense in picking up Jeff Cumberland in any format this season.
