Senior Bowl Spotlight: Kevin White, WR West Virginia- 2015 NFL Draft
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 210 lbs
40 yard dash: 4.49 (projected)
NFL Comparison: Larry Fitzgerald
Scouting Notes:
White had only two years at WVU, as a transfer from Lackawanna College, but in that time he became the university’s best receiver by leaps and bounds. After an unassuming 2013 season, that was partly to blame on a foot injury, White went nuts in 2014 amassing 1,447 yards and 10 tds as a Biletnikoff finalist. A hands-catcher who likes to get physical as much as he gets vertical, White has thick thighs like you might see on a running back, but much longer. His powerful lower body helps to mitigate the fact that White lacks elite speed. He can run all of the routes on the tree, but he does have the tendency to round off his breaks into cuts at times and lacks precision at this point sinking his hips and exploding out. With all this being said, that’s something he can work on in the next level. White is a special talent, and his ceiling is through the roof. White comes into the Senior Bowl as a player with a chance to elevate his status to a first-round level commodity with a good draft season.
Fantasy Outlook:
White has big-play potential, but he can be your possession guy too. He reminds me of a cross between Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. He’s got Fitzgerald’s hands and vertical prowess (his physical stats are almost identical to Fitz’s too) but he’s a violent runner who leads with his chest like Boldin. White projects a major, immediate fantasy contributor right out of the gate, in the right circumstance.
