The Fantasy Fallout Heading Into Week 8
Wow, Week 7 was the highest scoring week in fantasy I’ve seen in some time. Hopefully most of those points weren’t in your opponent’s favor. This is the fantasy fallout going into week 8:
Bills vs Jaguars
- There are rumors that Percy Harvin is mulling retirement in the wake of his hip injury. I’m not sure I buy it, but should he miss more time Robert Woods and Chris Hogan could trade off big days in Buffalo.
- E.J. Manuel doesn’t like Charles Clay as a primary target as much as Tyrod Taylor does. Fortunately for all of us, Taylor is on track to reclaim his starting duties following the Bills’ week 8 bye. Taylor and Clay should be picked up before that time if they’ve been dropped in your league.
- T.J. Yeldon had a field day against Buffalo, but now might be a good time to trade him, if you have that luxury, as he has the Jets, BAL, and TEN twice over the next 4 weeks.
Vikings vs Lions
- 75 of Adrian Peterson’s 98 yds came on one play. That means he otherwise carried the ball 18 times for 23 yds. Something fishy seems to be going on with A.P., and it’s got nothing to do with eating bad shrimp.
- Stefon Diggs has single-handedly made the conservative Teddy Bridgewater into a startable fantasy QB. Treat Diggs like a WR 1 in any trade offers you get for him.
- The return of Joique Bell only further muddies the Lions backfield. I can’t trust any of them on any given Sunday, but Riddick’s use in the passing game makes him serviceable in PPRs.
- It seems the last 2 week’s Lance Moore sightings were only a mirage, as he failed to notch even one reception on Sunday. The return of Eric Ebron has rendered him useless.
Saints vs Colts
- Mark Ingram has quietly become the no.2 back in fantasy, behind only Devonta Freeman. In the case his owner hasn’t noticed, it might be a good time to attempt to poach him in trade.
- Khiry Robinson is worth an add this week, as the Saints seem intent on using him over C.J. Spiller. He actually had the same(14) number of carries as Ingram on Sunday.
- Ben Watson might actually retain fantasy value over the remainder of the season. He needs to be picked up in your league, if he’s available.
- With Carolina, Denver, and Atlanta on the horizon, things don’t look any easier for the Colts. If you have a losing record right now, you should maybe consider moving your Colts this week.
Steelers vs Chiefs
- Big Ben should be back this week, improving every other Steeler’s fantasy value. This includes Heath Miller, who should return to fantasy viability.
- Knile Davis is an afterthought in K.C.’s offense. You can lose him in all formats if you need help elsewhere.
- Jeremy Maclin is likely to return this week, sending Wilson and Conley back into fantasy obscurity.
Texans vs Dolphins
- R.I.P. Arian Foster’s fantasy season. The guy can’t catch a break, but Chris Polk stands a good chance of doing so as a more versatile option in the backfield than Alfred Blue.
- I’d roll with Nasty Nate Washington again this week, as he faces his old team the Titans. Revenge games are real.
- Lamar Miller looks like the real deal this season, and I don’t expect him to lose his hold on the Dolphins running game. Trade him high at your own peril.
- Devante Parker can be dropped in leagues that aren’t dynasties.
Jets vs Patriots
- Ivory’s quad hampered his productivity against the Patriots. A protective add of Zac Stacy might be in order for his owners this week.
- LaFell looked out of sorts against the Jets, dropping most everything that came his way. He’ll have better days, but I’m still holding onto Amendola in deeper leagues.
- If Dion Lewis misses again this week, James White could see considerable action against the Dolphins, especially if the Pats fall behind.
Browns vs Rams
- All bets are off Browns skill players if Manziel starts this week. Though, there should be more of an emphasis on the ground game if McCown is forced to sit.
- Robert Turbin is making a claim for the early down back in Cleveland. He needs to be owned.
- It was a slow start for Gurley on Sunday, but he maintained his role as football’s most beastly back. He’s my first pick in 2016 in all formats.
- Brian Quick had at least one potentially big target, but he’s still not worth holding onto. The Rams offense is now predicated on Gurley.
Falcons vs Titans
- Roddy White deserves an add this week in the case Leonard Hankerson misses time.
- Mettenberger struggled on Sunday against the Falcons, leaving even more uncertainty for Titans skill players should he have to start again this week. Fortunately, the Titans are playing Houston, and if there’s any team you can breathe easier for it’s them.
- Justin Hunter is on the move in Tennessee despite his lame fantasy output against the Falcons. Desperate owners can add him in hopes of a big day versus the Texans, especially if Mariota returns.
Buccaneers vs Redskins
- Your no.3 back in all of fantasy is Doug Martin. Don’t say we didn’t warn you RW nation.
- Mike Evans is back and here to stay. Hopefully, you hung on to him.
- You should be starting Charles Sims this week against the Falcons with so few healthy receiving options in Tampa.
- Dare I say Alfred Morris can be dropped in all but the deepest of formats? I can’t. Jones didn’t fare much better against the Bucs. There are simply no holes to run through, and I’m staying away from all Washington backs for the time being.
Raiders vs Chargers
- If there’s one player I think stands a chance against Darrelle Revis, it’s Amari Cooper. He did major work on the talented Jason Verrett on only 6 targets. He’s the key to Oakland’s offense.
- I see Crabtree having a big day this week, should Revis shadow Cooper. Make sure he’s owned in your league.
- The Chargers are better with Woodhead in the game. If I’m a Gordon owner, I’m trying to move him. I’m also adding Oliver in deeper leagues.
Cowboys vs Giants
- Dez could be back soon, but does it even matter unless Romo is back as well?
- McFadden is the back to own in Dallas, but you already knew that if you read the Garbage Grab on Saturday.
- Orleans Darkwa is a real person despite the name, and he could lead the Giants backfield in week 8.
- The Cowboys have OBJ’s number. Fortunately for him, they don’t play again this regular season.
Eagles vs Panthers
- Chip Kelly is not nearly as smart as he thinks, if he can’t see that Ryan Mathews is his best back.
- Jordan Matthews has lost his mojo. He’s a buy low to some extent, but Nelson Agholor could have a stellar second half.
- Jonathan Stewart is finally turning it on. He’s someone to target in trade, as his value is still fairly questionable to most.
Ravens vs Cardinals
- Gillmore is Flacco’s best option behind Smith Sr. Add him where you can.
- Michael Floyd has worked his way back to fantasy relevance, and his big play ability makes him a high upside flex.
- I’m only holding onto David Johnson in dynasty, as he could have a breakout season next year. He’s droppable in redrafts though.

I need RB help…is Barnidge for Stewart fair?
I think so
12 Team Standard (Record: 4-3; 2nd place somehow)
[1] QB: Bortles
[2] WR: A. Brown, Hopkins (Hurns, Watkins, T. Austin)
[2] RB: Forte, D. Martin (Abdullah, Duke Johnson)
[1] TE: Barnidge
[1] FLEX: Gore
Bench total : (5)
Any thoughts on who I should I offer up to the 2-5 team below who actually accepted my offer of Tyrod, Barnidge, and Abdullah for Olsen and Luck last week before it was vetoed by the league…
I plan on dropping Bottles this week for Cutler or another suitable QB, and hopefully I can get Tyrod back after his bye week… someone else completed a trade and will be subsequently dropping Martellus Bennett so I think I’m gonna save my 3rd waiver priority for him assuming I can’t sell high on Barnidge?
I feel like I can take advantage of his vulnerability but I wanna make an offer that won’t get vetoed if he accepts… The numbers in brackets indicate how many starters we can play at each position and then players in parenthesis are bench guys.
His Team:
[1] QB: Rivers (Luck)
[2] WR: A. Cooper, J. Matthews (R. White)
[2] RB: Ingram, J. Randle (Bradshaw)
[1] TE: Olsen (O. Daniels)
[1] FLEX: Blount
Thanks in advance and sorry for the length!
Hey guys needing some help this week. I’m 4-3 and want to keep the wins rolling. First off, at qb is Big Ben or Dalton the guy to start? At rb I need two of gore, Forsett, charkandrick, and Latavius Murray. Also is Diggs worth starting over Marshall? And finally, Martellus Bennet or Gary Barnidge. Thanks guys, always appreciate the help
Hi Vick,
You will need to wait for our rankings later in the week to decide on the QB and RB- if you want or most accurate assessment. Love Diggs- not ready to start him over Marshall. If McCown is out definitely Martellus- otherwise – again please see our rankings later in the week- will likely be Martellus by a hair but we love Barnidge so still a lot to figure out for the week.

Non-PPR league. have to start 2 RBs. I have McCoy and Yeldon on Bye.
Going to start Charcandrick West at one RB spot. Only other RB I have is Hyde, who has been killing me whenever I start him.
Who is a “swing for the fences” RB I can pick up off of waivers that I can plug into my starting lineup for Week 8? Duke Johnson? Alfred Blue? Both go against decent run defenses this week.
Give me something because I can’t take watching Hyde continue to struggle in my starting lineup.
We like Duke Johnson and Antonio Andrews. On the season we like Duke more but Andrews has the better matchup on paper this week.
1/2-pt PPR 14-Team League.
QB: Tom Brady
WR: AJ Green, Calvin Johnson, Stefon Diggs, Allen Hurns
RB: Abdullah, Melvin Gordon, Robert Turbin, Matt Jones, Knile Davis
TE: Travis Kelce
Someone offered to trade me Justin Forsett for AJ Green. Should I do it?
Thanks
Yikes- tough call- given your RB situation we would probably do it. Your other option may be to try and sell high on Diggs and put him in a deal with Abdullah or Gordon and aim for a buy low RB like Jeremy Hill or Eddie Lacy, etc
2nd year playing Fantasy… 2nd year using you guys…
Thanks for the recommendation on packaging Stefon… I ended up selling Diggs high with Allen Hurns for Odell Beckham. Not sure if I should take my WR1’s and start shopping for some RB’s or stick with the 3-headed WR1 monster…
Again, thanks!
Do you trust Lacy to rebound? Right now I’m starting L. Murray and D. Martin, but Murray has a very tough matchup w/ the Jets. Also, is Diggs a must-start over someone like Steve Smith?
Well, if he does it won’t be this week against denver. I’d watch to see if starks sits out, he might, with injury. if so, then maybe lacy over murray. diggs isn’t a must start over smith
